Ask:
My sister has just been diagnosed with a breast tumor. Does she need surgery immediately? I would appreciate your advice, doctor.

Dr. Nguyen Cong Duy, Department of Diagnostic Imaging, Medlatec General Hospital, answers:
Women with fibroadenomas in the breast do not need immediate treatment but require regular monitoring. Depending on the size, location, and number of fibroadenomas, the doctor will prescribe appropriate treatment, specifically: Regular health check-ups when the fibroadenomas are small; Surgical removal of fibroadenomas to prevent compression of surrounding tissues if the fibroadenomas increase in size.
Currently, there are two surgical methods for breast tumor removal: Open surgery to remove fibroid nodules. This traditional method has drawbacks such as leaving unsightly scars, causing patients to feel self-conscious and insecure due to the scar left by the incision made by the doctor to remove the tumor.
The second method is the VABB vacuum aspiration technique. In the VABB technique, the doctor inserts a needle, cuts the tumor, and aspirates it out. This overcomes the limitations of traditional methods due to its superior advantages such as less pain for the patient, no surgical scars, no breast deformation, guaranteed aesthetics, no hospitalization required, quick procedure time, and safety for the patient.
With its advantages, vacuum aspiration is currently the first-line technique for specialists in treatment and diagnosis, specifically: Treatment of Brads class 3 and 4 tumors; Benign breast tumors smaller than or equal to 3 cm; Diagnosis of inconsistent core biopsy and imaging results; Tumors that are difficult to access by open biopsy or failed core biopsy.
