On October 27, United Airlines announced that it has officially restarted daily flights connecting Ho Chi Minh City and the US after nearly 10 years of interruption. With a transit in Hong Kong, this new route will connect Ho Chi Minh City with two major US cities, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Previously, SAGS coordinated with other units to organize the service for United Airlines flight UA152 from Hong Kong landing at Tan Son Nhat International Airport on the night of October 26 and flight UA153 from Ho Chi Minh City to Hong Kong in the early morning of October 27, opening the first flight in the period when the airline resumed operating the Vietnam - US route.

This newly reopened route of United Airlines is expected to be operated daily, using Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with a capacity of up to nearly 300 passengers.

United Airlines was the first US airline to open a route to Vietnam after the Air Transport Agreement between Vietnam and the US was signed in late 2003. In December 2004, United Airlines had its first flight to Ho Chi Minh City, but by 2017 the airline had stopped operating this route.

With the resumption of flights from Ho Chi Minh City to the US, United Airlines has become the only US airline currently operating flights to Ho Chi Minh City.

As one of the leading airlines in the US, United Airlines carries 140 million passengers each year to more than 300 destinations across 6 continents. The airline's return to the Vietnam - US route shows the potential for growth in tourism and travel between the two countries.

According to SAGS, United Airlines, during the first Vietnam - US route operation in more than 20 years, chose the unit's services, and SAGS continues to be the partner chosen by the US airline to provide ground services for this re-operation.

With more than 20 years of experience in the aviation industry, SAGS is currently one of the leading ground service providers in Vietnam, serving more than 60 international and domestic airlines at Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang , Cam Ranh and Long Thanh airports, expected to be put into operation in 2026.

Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online, SAGS said that with a team of experienced, well-trained staff and a modern equipment system, SAGS is always ready to serve international airlines when they come to Vietnam, and most recently, provide services for United Airlines' Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 fleet.

SAGS also hopes that this new route of United Airlines will contribute to diversifying choices for passengers when they need to travel, work or carry out international trade activities, thereby promoting trade growth between Vietnam and other countries.
