Van Don: In the first 6 months of the year, tourism revenue reached 1,195 billion VND

On July 17, the People's Council of Van Don district, term XX, 2021-2026, held the opening of the 23rd Session (Regular Session in mid-year 2024) to discuss and evaluate the results of the implementation of socio-economic tasks in the first 6 months of 2024, agree on key tasks for the last 6 months of 2024 and resolve a number of important contents under the authority of the District People's Council.

At the meeting, delegates listened to a number of reports, submissions, and draft resolutions submitted to the meeting, such as: Report on the implementation of socio -economic tasks, national defense and security in the first 6 months of the year, directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2024; Notice of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on the work of advising on government building in the first 6 months of the year; directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2024; Report of the People's Procuracy on the exercise of the right to prosecute and supervise judicial activities in the first 6 months of the year; directions and tasks for the last 6 months of the year; Report and submission of the District Finance and Planning Department; submission on the 2025 Supervision Program of the District People's Council; Reports of the Economic - Social Committee and the Legal Committee of the District People's Council on the implementation of socio-economic tasks in the first 6 months of the year; directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2024.

Comrade To Van Hai, Standing Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People's Council, delivered the opening speech of the Session.

In the first 6 months of the year, the socio-economic development situation in the district remained stable, with good growth. The district completed the project of the type III urban area and submitted it to the District People's Council for approval. The district organized many spring activities and festivals and put into operation 10/14 new tourism products, attracting a large number of people and tourists. International visitors increased by 96% over the same period; tourism revenue reached 1,195 billion VND, up 65.2% over the same period. Aquaculture output increased by 62.7% over the same period. Administrative reform, improvement of the investment and business environment, and digital transformation were promoted. Cultural and social work continued to receive attention. Target programs on new rural areas and sustainable poverty reduction associated with the Overall Program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and island areas were implemented to ensure the set progress. The district reduced 80/80 near-poor households according to the province's criteria; job creation increased by 18.2% over the same period; the education and training sector had many high achievements. National defense and security were ensured.

Also at the meeting, comrade Vu Ngoc Ha, Deputy Head of the Economic - Budget Committee of the Provincial People's Council, a delegate of the Provincial People's Council in Van Don - Co To district, informed the delegates about the results of the mid-year session of 2024, term XIV, Provincial People's Council term 2021-2026.
