On October 12th, the Forest Protection Management Board of Tuong Duong district ( Nghe An province ) announced that they had rescued a mountain goat that had been caught in a trap set by poachers.
Previously, on October 11th, the Tam Hop Forest Protection Management Station (Tuong Duong District Protective Forest Management Board) conducted a patrol in the deep forest area bordering the Vietnam-Laos border. In this area, the patrol team discovered more than 50 traps for wild animals made of cable.
Besides a deer that had been dead for some time after being caught in a trap, forest rangers also discovered a male mountain goat still caught in a trap. The goat's left front leg was secured with a noose made of cable, leaving it hanging.
After carefully cutting and removing the traps, the forest rangers thoroughly checked the mountain goat's health, treated its wounds, and released it back into the forest.
Mountain goats are endangered and rare forest animals, classified in Group IB according to Decree 06/2019/ND-CP on the management of endangered and rare forest plants and animals and the implementation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Animals and Plants.
