On October 19, the Organizing Committee announced that the preliminary round of the "Cyber Security Student 2025" Competition had officially ended. Previously, on October 18, the preliminary round took place simultaneously at schools across the country and connected online with 27 schools in 8 other countries in the region.

The competition attracted 327 teams with a total of 1,265 contestants. The contestants competed and tested their skills by solving 21 cyber security challenges in 5 specialized topic groups, reflecting real-life cyber attack and defense situations.

The Organizing Committee said that this year's scoring mechanism is designed flexibly to increase competitiveness and accurately reflect the professional capacity of each team. Accordingly, each challenge has a score ranging from 100 to 500 points, and the score will be adjusted down if more teams successfully solve that challenge.

Conversely, difficult challenges that few teams can solve will keep their score higher. This can cause a team's score to increase or decrease depending on the progress of the competition, creating constant changes in the leaderboard.
