Vietnam wishes to continue to further promote the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Singapore.

On the afternoon of October 26, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung met with Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, on the occasion of accompanying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and related Summits.

At the meeting, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung expressed his pleasure at officially meeting the Singaporean Foreign Minister for the first time in his new position; affirmed his wish to continue to further promote the Vietnam-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in general and good cooperation between the two countries' Foreign Ministries in particular.

The two Ministers expressed their delight at the particularly important step forward in the bilateral relationship with the upgrade to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which is an important milestone opening up many opportunities to deepen and bring bilateral cooperation to a new height; highly appreciated the two sides for completing the development of the Action Program to implement the Vietnam-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to be signed under the witness of the two Prime Ministers on this occasion, which is the direction for developing a more comprehensive bilateral relationship for the next 5 years.

Satisfied with the progress in economic cooperation, the two Ministers agreed to continue promoting the exchange of delegations at all levels; effectively deploy existing bilateral mechanisms, establish new cooperation mechanisms, especially through the party channel; focus on coordinating relevant ministries and branches to actively implement the results achieved during recent high-level visits, especially the Green Economy - Digital Economy Partnership and the Economic Connectivity Agreement.

The two sides also agreed to coordinate in upgrading the second-generation Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) network to be greener and smarter, and continue to closely coordinate in other important areas such as training high-quality human resources and building smart cities; and affirmed mutual support at multilateral forums.

The two Ministers agreed to promote mutually beneficial cooperation areas, continue to support and coordinate the two countries' positions on issues of common concern at regional and international forums; including coordinating to ensure ASEAN's common stance on the East Sea issue, ensuring full implementation of the DOC, and soon achieving an effective and substantive COC in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

On this occasion, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung thanked Singapore for providing emergency aid in many forms, including essential necessities to help people in some northern provinces of Vietnam overcome the consequences of storms and floods.
