According to the Networked Readiness Index (NRI) 2024 ranking, compiled by the Portulans Institute and Saïd Business School at Oxford University, Vietnam ranks 45th out of 133 countries globally, an increase of 11 places compared to last year.
The NRI 2024 report, titled “Building a Digital Tomorrow: Public-Private Investments and Global Collaboration for Digital Readiness,” was recently published by the Portulans Institute and the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford.
This latest network readiness ranking is categorized into four pillars: Technology, People, Governance, and Impact. Each pillar is further divided into three sub-pillars, assessed using 54 variables or factors.
The primary goal of the NRI is to highlight potential disparities between different regions in terms of development levels and economic performance. The 2024 NRI shows the dominance of the United States in innovation and technology adoption metrics.
The United States is a world leader in access to and use of information and communication technology (ICT) and also leads in digital business transformation and areas such as scientific publications on AI.
Singapore and Finland held the second and third positions respectively, unchanged from the past three years. However, there were some changes in the top 10, with the United Kingdom rising to eighth place from tenth, while Sweden climbed one spot to fourth and South Korea rose two spots to fifth.
Vietnam achieved an overall score of 54.96 points across four key indicators, with technology scoring 49.27 points, human resources 47.97 points, governance 58.03 points, and impact 64.58 points. Ranked 47th among 32 lower-middle-income countries, Vietnam leads in the NRI index. India ranked second at 49th overall, and the Philippines ranked third at 63rd.
