Vietnam Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation with GuangZhou Yuanzhilv Technology tourism company.
At the "Vietnam Tourism Introduction Program" organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Chongqing (China) on November 8, Vietnam Airlines signed a bilateral cooperation memorandum with the travel company GuangZhou Yuanzhilv Technology.
The memorandum of understanding ceremony took place under the witness of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders, representatives of agencies, departments and businesses of the two countries.
The MoU marks the commitment of both sides to attract nearly 300,000 tourists from China to Vietnam in the 2024-2030 period, while contributing to promoting the image of Vietnam as an attractive destination for Chinese tourists.
According to the memorandum of understanding, Vietnam Airlines and GuangZhou Yuanzhilv Technology agreed to cooperate closely in many areas such as aviation services, marketing, exchange of experiences in tourism development and new trends in destinations between the two countries. The two sides will also cooperate in organizing events in China to promote Vietnam as an attractive tourist destination in the region.
China has always been one of Vietnam's key tourism markets. In 2024, the Chinese market began to recover after a long period of being affected by COVID-19. According to statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Chinese tourists to Vietnam in the first nine months of the year reached 2.7 million, an increase of 141.4% compared to the same period last year.
Vietnam Airlines alone transported 483,000 passengers to China in the first nine months of this year, 2.4 times higher than the same period in 2023. Currently, the airline is operating 5 regular routes to China, including routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to major cities such as Guangzhou, Beijing, and Shanghai.
In the coming time, Vietnam Airlines plans to continue to increase the frequency of regular flights, open new routes and increase the use of wide-body aircraft to supplement capacity in the context of good market demand growth.
In addition, the airline will coordinate with agencies and partners of the two countries to develop programs to promote new destinations in Vietnam for Chinese tourists and introduce potential destinations in China to the Vietnamese people./.
