Vietravel announces CSR campaign “Keep the cranes – Keep millions of green”

On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, Vietravel Tourism Company officially launched the meaningful CSR campaign "Keep the cranes - Keep millions of green colors", aiming at the goal of sustainable development associated with nature conservation and biodiversity. The focus of the campaign is to support the protection of the Red-crowned Crane - a rare symbol of the wetland ecosystem in Vietnam, currently facing the risk of extinction. This activity not only demonstrates Vietravel's sustainable development orientation but also an effort to spread awareness of environmental protection and biodiversity to the community, especially the younger generation.

The red-crowned crane is a bird of special ecological significance, often considered an important indicator of the health of wetland ecosystems. Red-crowned cranes once appeared in numbers of hundreds in the Dong Thap Muoi region, especially in Tram Chim National Park – one of Vietnam's four Ramsar sites and one of the rare wetlands that still maintains suitable conditions for this species to live and breed.

However, over the past 10 years, the number of cranes returning to Tram Chim National Park during the dry season has been steadily declining. While in 2020, Tram Chim recorded over 13 individuals of red-crowned cranes searching for food, by 2024, this number had dropped to a mere 4 individuals. According to environmental experts, the main reason is the alteration of the cranes' habitat; the water in the area is polluted by agricultural production, chemicals, and fertilizers. Furthermore, current tap water sources contain chlorine and other impurities unsuitable for cranes. Simultaneously, the decline of aquatic plant species such as sedges and rushes – the cranes' main food source – has also made the area less than ideal for this species.

Vietravel 's CSR campaign "Preserving the Cranes - Preserving Millions of Green Colors" is currently receiving support from our valued customers and partners.

Vietravel takes practical action for the environment.
Faced with increasingly urgent environmental challenges, Vietravel recognizes that it is not just a tourism service business, but also a social actor, responsible for linking economic development with the conservation of natural resources. The "Preserve the Cranes - Preserve a Million Shades of Green" campaign was launched as a milestone in Vietravel's 30-year journey of accompanying the community and living environment of Vietnam. Within the framework of the campaign, Vietravel officially sponsored VND 200,000,000 (two hundred million dong) for Tram Chim National Park, focusing on two main key activities:

First, Vietravel will install a specialized water filtration system to create a clean water source, free of chlorine and harmful impurities, for the cranes to drink. In a changing natural environment, the water sources at Tram Chim are increasingly affected by chemicals and heavy metals from domestic wastewater and agricultural production. This filtration system will help restore the water source, creating the best conditions for the cranes to return and survive in a safe environment.

Secondly, Vietravel supports the restoration of native ecosystems and promotes cricket farming models, as well as providing natural food for cranes, especially restoring plant species such as sedges and rushes, helping to rebuild the natural habitat of these birds. Replanting native species not only provides food for cranes but also contributes to the restoration of wetlands – the biological lungs of the Dong Thap Muoi region.

Vietravel donated 200,000,000 VND to Tram Chim National Park.

Environmental education for the younger generation through green tourism.
Alongside its ecological conservation efforts at Tram Chim National Park, Vietravel is also implementing a meaningful tourism program that encourages the community to participate in a "green tourism" journey – where each trip contributes to positive changes for society and the environment. The program aims for sustainable tourism and early environmental awareness for the younger generation. This 2-day, 1-night trip will take visitors to key locations in Dong Thap province, such as Tram Chim National Park – known as the "green lung of the Mekong Delta"; My Phuoc Thanh Eco-tourism Area – one of the outstanding community tourism models; Xeo Quyt Historical Site – preserving stories of the resistance war; and especially, the experience of making handcrafted Tram Chim paintings – an activity combining culture, art, and the protection of local resources.

In support of the "Preserve the Cranes - Preserve a Million Shades of Green" campaign , Vietravel is offering a meaningful gift: a nature exploration tour specifically for families with children under 12 years old, with a special itinerary to Tram Chim National Park in Dong Thap province. This promotion officially applies to customers who purchase summer tours at Vietravel (from economy class upwards). Accordingly, for every booking with children under 12 years old, Vietravel will give a free tour to Tram Chim National Park for the child (maximum 2 children per booking). This is a wonderful opportunity for children to get close to nature, observe rare bird species, and experience the unique wetland ecosystem – a way to learn and enjoy a meaningful summer with their family.

In addition, each child under 12 years old participating in the Tram Chim National Park tour will receive a cute bird-shaped hat as a symbol of their nature-inspired trip. The program, designed by Vietravel, not only provides a fun experience for children but also inspires them about the importance of the environment, the role of cranes, and the close connection between humans and nature.
Vietravel – 30 years of partnering with the community for a sustainable future.
With the campaign “Preserving the Cranes – Preserving a Million Shades of Green,” Vietravel reaffirms its commitment to pursuing a sustainable development strategy as an integral part of its 30-year journey. This is not simply a momentous social responsibility activity, but the beginning of a long-term series of actions for the environment – a direction Vietravel has identified as core to its mission of connecting people with nature.

Vietravel awarded prizes to children in the drawing contest "Protecting the Natural Environment & Wildlife".

Beyond organizing exploratory journeys, Vietravel proactively acts as a bridge between the community and ecological values by integrating conservation messages into every travel experience. Through this campaign, Vietravel aims to awaken a love for nature from the simplest things: the image of red-crowned cranes soaring over the Tram Chim wetlands, the sounds of life echoing in the deep green space, or the eager eyes of a child seeing cranes in real life for the first time. Through concrete and practical efforts, Vietravel not only accompanies conservation efforts but also plays a leading role in inspiring green living – so that each trip is not just a journey of discovery, but also a journey of awareness, connection, and sharing with the nature of its homeland.
