Vietravel announces CSR campaign “Keep the cranes – Keep millions of green”

On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, Vietravel Tourism Company officially launched the meaningful CSR campaign “Keep the cranes – Keep millions of greens”, aiming at the goal of sustainable development associated with nature conservation and biodiversity. The focus of the campaign is to support the protection of the Red-crowned Crane – a rare symbol of the wetland ecosystem in Vietnam, currently facing the risk of extinction. This activity not only demonstrates Vietravel’s sustainable development orientation but also an effort to spread awareness of environmental protection and biodiversity to the community, especially the younger generation.

The Sarus Crane is a bird of special ecological significance, often considered an important indicator of the health of wetland ecosystems. The Sarus Crane once appeared in hundreds of individuals in the Dong Thap Muoi region, especially in Tram Chim National Park - one of four Ramsar sites in Vietnam and a rare wetland that still maintains suitable conditions for this bird species to live and breed.

However, in the past 10 years, the number of cranes returning to Tram Chim in the dry season has been decreasing. If in 2020, Tram Chim recorded over 13 red-crowned cranes coming to look for food, by 2024, this number will be only 04 individuals. According to environmental experts, the main reason is that the cranes' habitat has changed, the water source in this area is polluted by agricultural production activities, chemicals, and fertilizers. In addition, current tap water sources contain chlorine and other impurities that are not suitable for cranes to use. At the same time, the decline in aquatic plants such as reed grass and sedge - the main food of cranes, has also made this place no longer an ideal destination for this bird species.
Vietravel 's CSR campaign "Keep the cranes - Keep millions of green" is currently receiving support from customers and partners.

Vietravel takes practical action for the environment

Faced with increasingly urgent environmental challenges, Vietravel has identified itself as not only a tourism service provider, but also a social actor, responsible for linking economic development with natural resource conservation. The campaign “Keep the cranes – Keep millions of green” was launched as a milestone in Vietravel’s 30-year journey of always accompanying the community and living environment in Vietnam. Within the framework of the campaign, Vietravel officially sponsored 200,000,000 VND (two hundred million VND) for Tram Chim National Park, focusing on two main key activities:

First, Vietravel will install a specialized water filtration system to create a clean water source, free of chlorine and toxic impurities for the cranes to drink. In changing natural conditions, the water source at Tram Chim is increasingly affected by chemicals and heavy metals from domestic wastewater and agricultural production. This water filtration system will help restore the water source, creating the best conditions for the cranes to return and survive in a safe environment.

Second, Vietravel supports the restoration of native ecosystems and promotes the cricket farming model as well as providing natural food for cranes, especially the restoration of plants such as sedge and reed grass, helping to rebuild the natural habitat of this bird species. Replanting native plants not only provides food for cranes but also contributes to the restoration of wetlands - the biological lungs of the Dong Thap Muoi region.

Environmental education for the young generation through green travel

Along with activities supporting ecological conservation at Tram Chim National Park, Vietravel also launched a meaningful tourism program calling on the tourist community to join the "green tourism" journey - where each trip contributes to creating positive movements for society and the environment. The program aims at sustainable tourism values and raising early environmental awareness for the country's young generation. Accordingly, this journey will last 2 days and 1 night, taking visitors to typical locations in Dong Thap such as Tram Chim National Park - known as the "green lung of the West"; My Phuoc Thanh Eco-tourism Area - one of the outstanding community tourism models; Xeo Quyt relic site - where historical stories of the resistance war are preserved; and especially the experience of making Tram handmade paintings - an activity combining culture, art, and protection of indigenous resources.

At the same time, responding to the campaign "Keep the cranes - Keep millions of green" , Vietravel offers a meaningful gift: a nature discovery tour exclusively for families with children under 12 years old, with a special journey to Tram Chim National Park - Dong Thap. This promotion program is officially applied to customers who have purchased a Summer tour at Vietravel (from the economy line and above). Accordingly, for each booking of any tour with children under 12 years old, Vietravel will give a free tour to Tram Chim National Park for children (maximum 02 children/booking). This is a great opportunity for children to get close to nature, observe rare birds, experience the typical wetland ecosystem - a way to learn and enjoy a meaningful Summer with their family.

In addition, each child under 12 years old participating in the Tram Chim discovery tour will be given a cute bird-shaped hat, as a symbol of the trip connected with nature. The program designed by Vietravel not only brings fun experiences to children, but also inspires about the importance of the environment, the role of cranes and the close connection between humans and nature.

Vietravel – 30 years accompanying the community for a sustainable future

With the campaign “Keep the cranes – Keep millions of greens” , Vietravel reaffirms its commitment to pursuing a sustainable development strategy, as an inseparable part of its 30-year journey. This is not simply a temporary social responsibility activity, but the beginning of a long-term chain of actions for the environment – a direction that Vietravel identifies as the core of its mission to connect people with nature.
Vietravel awarded prizes to the drawing contest "Protecting the natural environment and wildlife" for children.

Not only organizing discovery trips, Vietravel also proactively becomes a bridge between the community and ecological values, by integrating conservation messages into each travel experience. Through this campaign, Vietravel hopes to awaken the love of nature from the simplest things: the image of red-crowned cranes flying in the Tram Chim wetland, the sound of life resounding in the deep green space, or the eager eyes of a child seeing cranes in real life for the first time. With specific and practical efforts, Vietravel not only accompanies in conservation work, but also plays a leading role in inspiring green living - so that each trip is not only a journey of discovery, but also a journey of awareness, attachment and sharing with the nature of the homeland.
