Viettel tests 5G equipment in the Middle East

Within the framework of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, on the afternoon of March 5, Viettel High Technology Industry Corporation (Viettel High Tech) - a member of the Military Industry and Telecommunications Group announced the testing of 5G equipment with Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (Du), the leading network operator in the Middle East.

This event marks a breakthrough in Viettel High-Tech Industry Corporation's international expansion strategy, while also affirming Vietnam's technological capabilities on the global telecommunications map.

At the event, Viettel High-Tech Industry Corporation and its strategic partner, High Cloud Technologies (HCT), signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Emirates Integrated Telecommunications to commit to cooperating in the deployment, testing, and commercialization of 5G solutions in the Middle East region.

The initial phase will focus on testing on Emirates Integrated Telecommunications' advanced network with two components: a 5G OpenRAN public network and a 5G Private Network. The deployment of Viettel High-Tech Corporation's advanced 5G solutions not only meets the growing demand for network capacity and high data transmission speeds but also lays the foundation for groundbreaking applications such as smart cities, virtual/augmented reality (VR/AR) experiences, and the Internet of Things (IoT) in industry.

Mr. Nguyen Vu Ha, General Director of Viettel High-Tech Industry Corporation, affirmed: " This cooperation will create a strong 5G ecosystem, meeting international standards and promoting digital transformation in the region."

Speaking on behalf of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications, Mr. Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO, emphasized: " This collaboration is a significant step forward in providing future-ready connectivity solutions. Integrating 5G Private and OpenRAN will help us build a next-generation telecommunications ecosystem, delivering value to businesses, governments , and communities."

The partnership between Viettel High-Tech Industry Corporation and Emirates Integrated Telecommunications aligns with the UAE's national digitalization strategy, which prioritizes investment in telecommunications infrastructure to drive economic growth. Successful trials will pave the way for large-scale commercial deployment, positioning the UAE as a global hub for advanced telecommunications technology.

In addition to 5G trials, Viettel High Tech is actively seeking opportunities to expand its portfolio of network infrastructure solutions in the Middle East. This is a strategic move to build a comprehensive technology ecosystem and strengthen Viettel High Tech's position in the global next-generation telecommunications value chain.
