Steady steps on the journey of convergent journalism

After 63 years of establishment and development (August 25, 1962 - August 25, 2025), Thai Nguyen Newspaper, now merged with the press agencies of Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan provinces to form Thai Nguyen Newspaper and Radio and Television, has achieved the great stature of a modern, multimedia, multi-platform press agency. Looking back at history, the predecessor of Thai Nguyen Newspaper was Tin Thai Nguyen, published in 1958 under the direction of the Provincial Information Department. In the context of the Northern part of our country entering the stage of building socialism, the need for propaganda was increasing, the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee decided to establish Thai Nguyen Newspaper.

On August 25, 1962, Resolution No. 29-NQ/TU was issued, officially converting Tin Thai Nguyen newspaper into Thai Nguyen Newspaper and simultaneously reorganizing the Provincial Radio Station. Just over a month later, on October 18, 1962, the first issue of the newspaper was published, on the occasion of Thai Nguyen town being recognized as a class III city. From this milestone, Thai Nguyen press entered a new stage of development, closely associated with important events of the homeland and the country.

During its development, Thai Nguyen Newspaper changed its name many times due to administrative changes. In 1965, when Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan provinces merged into Bac Thai province, Thai Nguyen Newspaper and Bac Kan Newspaper merged into Bac Thai Newspaper. In 1997, when Bac Thai province split, Thai Nguyen Newspaper was re-established and continued to have remarkable development.

Entering a new phase, from July 1, 2025, Thai Nguyen Newspaper, Radio and Television were established on the basis of merging press agencies of the two provinces including: Thai Nguyen Newspaper, Thai Nguyen Radio - Television, Thai Nguyen Literature and Arts Magazine, Bac Kan Newspaper, Bac Kan Radio - Television and Ba Be Literature and Arts Magazine. This event affirms the position of a key, prestigious press agency, the official voice of the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in the province.

From the initial small scale of the press agencies before the merger, Thai Nguyen Newspaper, Radio and Television are growing stronger and stronger, and the types of press are maintained and developed with increasingly improved quality.

The printed newspaper has changed from a weekly issue to a daily newspaper, changing the format, publication size, increasing pages, maintaining many rich columns, comprehensively reflecting the political , economic, social, cultural, defense and security life of the province. Responding to political tasks and the public's need for information, the printed newspaper has innovated in the direction of developing data journalism, increasing the content of documentary information, and having archival value.

The daily News publication has been renewed in its title to be easier to read, more attractive, with more information and images; the Thai Nguyen Literature and Arts publication has also been renewed, more suitable to readers' tastes. The Editorial Board is interested in building and organizing long-term series and articles with in-depth analysis and evaluation of economic and social fields; promptly informing and orienting issues of public interest, while actively protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints...

Along with printed newspapers, the Editorial Board of Thai Nguyen Newspaper, Radio and Television pays special attention to developing electronic newspapers, updating 24/7 in four languages: Vietnamese, English, Chinese and Korean; regularly maintaining nearly 50 columns. The electronic newspaper interface is adjusted in a modern direction, in line with the development trend of the press nationwide.

The editorial office has invested in upgrading software and building electronic applications to increase interaction and create convenience for the public; content is developed richly and diversely on the basis of "correct, accurate, fast, attractive, and oriented".
