Long Hai Commune, Ho Chi Minh City: Many models help farmers produce and do business

The movement “Farmers compete in production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably” has spread widely. Up to now, the whole Long Hai commune (HCMC) has 2,805 households achieving the title of good farmers and businessmen at all levels.

On October 17, Long Hai Commune Farmers' Association held the 1st Congress of Delegates, term 2025-2030.

According to the report, the whole commune has 1,402 means of seafood exploitation (980 offshore vessels, 422 inshore vessels, 179 nearshore vessels and 579 vessels operating inshore). The main economic activities are seafood exploitation, production and business services, fishery logistics services for seafood exploitation; tourism development and high-tech agriculture.

The rope and fishing gear production facility of farmer Nguyen Huu Hung, Hai Tan hamlet, Long Hai commune creates stable jobs for dozens of local workers.

To support fishermen in production and business cooperation, the Association has coordinated with departments, branches and Party committees to establish the Quyet Thang Aquatic Exploitation - Service Cooperative and 38 seafood exploitation solidarity groups; developed 4 professional associations/107 members, 30 professional associations/193 members, guided the establishment of 6 cooperative groups with 27 members; built 3 agricultural production models combined with eco-tourism and experiential tourism.

The Association has coordinated with the Party Committee to propagate to more than 7,500 fishermen, crew members and captains about the work of combating IUU fishing through the models "Morning coffee with fishermen", "Breakfast with fishermen", "Saturday listening to people speak"...

Comrade Huynh Son Tuan, Party Secretary, Chairman of Long Hai Commune People's Council, and the Farmers' Association propagated the work of combating IUU fishing at the Morning Coffee for fishermen.

With the motto of action "Solidarity - Innovation - Creativity - Development", the 2025-2030 term, the congress determined the key task is to build a strong Association, encourage the development of organic agriculture associated with tourism . Support fishermen to go offshore, with the determination to remove the IUU yellow card for the fisheries industry.

The Congress announced the Decision of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers' Association on appointing 21 members of the Executive Committee of the Long Hai Commune Farmers' Association, term I. Comrade Le Tran Minh was appointed to hold the position of Chairman of the Long Hai Commune Farmers' Association, term 2025-2030.
