The incident occurred on Nguyen Hoang Street (near My Dinh bus station) on the morning of March 6th, leaving the taxi driver injured and requiring emergency hospitalization.
On the morning of March 6th, a social media account named D.T. reported that a family member of a taxi driver had been assaulted by employees of the Quang Giang transportation company, resulting in hospitalization.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. T said that the incident occurred in front of house number 55 on Nguyen Hoang Street (My Dinh 2 Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi ) at around 4 am on March 6th.
After being assaulted in front of the Su Chuyen Quang Giang bus company office (on Nguyen Hoang Street), the male taxi driver was injured and had to be taken to the hospital for emergency treatment (photo: provided by the victim's family).
At the time, the victim, a taxi driver, was parked waiting for customers when a man locked his wheels. When the victim questioned this, the assailant grabbed a padlock and struck the driver on the head.
"At 4:30 AM, I arrived to take a family member to the emergency room. People sent me pictures of the passenger bus with license plate 23H-016.53, a picture of a man, and said that the assailant was a member of the Quang Giang bus company. Currently, the incident has been reported to the My Dinh 2 Ward Police," Mr. T said.
Speaking with reporters, the leader of My Dinh 2 Ward Police said that the unit had received information about the incident and was verifying and clarifying the matter.
The taxi company's office is located on Nguyen Hoang Street, the area where the taxi driver was assaulted on the morning of March 6th.
According to our reporter's observations, at office number 55 Nguyen Hoang, both Quang Giang and Su Chuyen transport companies display their signs. Local residents say that both companies operate at this office for goods delivery and passenger transfer.
Contacting a representative from the Su Chuyen transportation company, they stated that the person who assaulted the taxi driver on the morning of March 6th was neither a driver nor an employee of their company.
Regarding whether the assailant was an employee of Quang Giang bus company, as recounted by residents to the victim's family, the police are currently verifying and clarifying the matter.
Regarding the above issue, the leader of My Dinh bus station added that the passenger bus with license plate 23H-016.53 mentioned in the incident bears the name of Quang Giang bus company but belongs to Ha Giang Passenger Bus Joint Stock Company, and is not an unlicensed bus. This bus is registered to operate at My Dinh bus station on the Hanoi - Ha Giang route, and departs according to the scheduled time each day. On the morning of March 6th, this bus arrived at the station at 4:27 AM.
According to our reporter's observations, numerous bus company offices for goods delivery and pickup have sprung up along Nguyen Hoang Street (around My Dinh bus station), however, passenger buses frequently stop and park in front of these offices.
The leaders of My Dinh bus station also stated that since the removal of district-level police forces and the discontinuation of traffic inspections outside the bus station (only the traffic police of Team 6 are responsible for patrolling and controlling traffic safety in the area, but due to limited personnel, comprehensive control is difficult), an increasing number of illegal buses and makeshift bus stops are operating around the My Dinh area.
Regarding this issue, the leader of Traffic Police Unit No. 6 stated that recently, the unit has worked with representatives of bus companies that have offices in the Nguyen Hoang street area to sign a commitment not to pick up or drop off passengers at their offices, causing traffic congestion and obstruction. Going forward, the team will intensify inspections and strictly handle cases of deliberate violations.
