Building a safe and healthy educational environment for students to develop comprehensively in terms of morality, knowledge and aesthetics. However, the situation of school violence (SLV) occurring continuously in the province in recent times is a worrying issue not only for those working in education but also for authorities at all levels, sectors, organizations and the whole society. Therefore, promoting propaganda to prevent and combat SLV, building a safe and friendly educational environment has become urgent.

A series of recent BLHD incidents in Thanh Hoa are ringing alarm bells. Specifically, in early 2025, a female student of Nong Cong 2 High School, Thang Loi Commune, was beaten up and suffered a broken cervical vertebra; also at Nong Cong 2 High School, a male student was seriously injured right at the school gate; or the incident in which students from Dang Thai Mai High School, Quang Binh Commune, fought each other, resulting in the death of one student. And most recently, a male student from Thanh Hoa Agricultural College, Trieu Son Commune, was beaten up by a group of 11th grade students, then died on the afternoon of November 5...

The above incidents not only shocked the public, but also sounded a serious alarm about the current state of domestic violence. If in the past, these fights were often viewed as spontaneous and impulsive, recent incidents have gone beyond that. It shows the increase of extreme violence among school-age children; reflects the gap in life values ​​education, the serious lack of behavioral skills, emotional control and the laxity in supervision and coordination between schools, families and society.

Not standing on the sidelines, many educational institutions in the province have been simultaneously implementing solutions to prevent and combat violence, from increasing propaganda, life skills education, to promoting the role of school psychological counseling teams. The goal is to help students identify violent behavior early, know how to share, behave positively and together build a safe and friendly school environment.

As a typical unit in implementing propaganda and education activities for students, Yen Ninh Primary and Secondary School has organized extracurricular activities on life skills education topics, and integrated them into class meetings, Civic Education, Literature, the first 15 minutes of class activities and other educational activities; implemented regulations on a safe, healthy, friendly educational environment, and prevention of bullying for 100% of students to attend. The school also implemented the model of "Pair of friends progressing together", each student with good academic performance and strong skills will accompany another student who is shy and has weaker academic performance. Thereby, friendship is fostered, conflicts are reduced, sympathy and understanding are spread. Teacher Le Van Ninh, Principal of Yen Ninh Primary and Secondary School, said: “Propaganda activities help students gain knowledge and understanding of the law, have a healthy lifestyle, and prevent deviant behaviors that can lead to domestic violence. In addition, we strengthen positive discipline education and conflict resolution skills for students. Thanks to that, in recent years, there have been almost no cases of domestic violence among students at the school.”

To prevent school violence from continuing to occur, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee has issued Official Dispatch No. 19-CV/TU on strengthening leadership and direction in the work of preventing and combating school violence in the province. Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training is required to advise the Provincial People's Committee to include the content of preventing school violence, crime and social evils among students in socio -economic development programs and projects. At the same time, strengthen education on ethics, lifestyle, and life skills for students; promote legal education, tighten school discipline and order; strictly handle violations; establish a hotline to receive feedback on school violence; assign experienced and skilled teachers to promptly detect and handle situations when there is a risk or sign of imminent school violence. Integrate and incorporate the content of preventing and combating school violence into the content of a number of subjects and extracurricular programs at schools. The Department of Education and Training presides over and coordinates with the Provincial Police to deploy models and forums such as "Safe School Gate"; "School Advisory Group"; "Prevention of Domestic Violence"... thereby promptly detecting, preventing, and resolving conflicts. Schools coordinate closely with families and society in the management and education of children and students; review and detect the number of bad and special students... to have measures to coordinate with families and parents to resolve and handle issues so as not to cause complications...

Education is not only about teaching words, but also about teaching people. The recent heartbreaking incidents of domestic violence are a warning bell that the need to eliminate and move towards building a safe, friendly, and happy educational environment is more urgent than ever.
