Mr. Nguyen Van Cu's high-tech lemon garden

Improve the quality of life

According to information from the People's Committee of Binh Duc Commune, lemon trees are currently one of the three main crops of the locality, along with rice and cassava. The whole commune currently has 805 hectares of lemon growing area, of which 405 hectares are being harvested. Notably, 150 hectares of this area are produced using high technology, contributing to improving productivity, quality and economic value for growers.

For many years, lemon trees have become the “rich tree” of the people of Binh Duc commune, contributing to the development of this rural area, gradually reaching the new rural standards. Mr. Nguyen Van Cu (residing in Hamlet 5 Binh Duc, Binh Duc commune, Tay Ninh province) said that before 2010, he grew sugarcane but his income was unstable. When sugarcane prices dropped, he switched to growing lemons and reaped success.

Currently, Mr. Cu cultivates nearly 2 hectares of lemon trees with about 1,000 trees, the entire area meeting VietGAP standards. Complying with safe growing processes, using biological pesticides and manual weeding not only helps the product achieve high quality but also opens up opportunities to sign stable consumption contracts with businesses. Thanks to that, despite fluctuations in lemon prices, his income remains stable, reaching more than 600 million VND/year.

In the 2025-2030 term, Binh Duc commune will focus on improving the efficiency of agricultural production, promoting the application of high-tech agriculture, green and circular agriculture; changing the mindset of agriculture, developing agriculture in the direction of creating products with high added value, using land effectively, and closely linking the "4 houses".

At the same time, the commune focuses on building infrastructure systems, investing in expanding and upgrading rural traffic routes, aiming at the goal of "ecological agriculture, modern countryside, civilized farmers"; improving the quality of new rural communes, striving to be recognized as meeting advanced new rural standards.

Together to build the homeland

Rural traffic routes in My An commune are installed with solar lighting systems, making the rural appearance more prosperous.

In recent years, My An commune has formed many diverse production and business models, invested in infrastructure, and people's lives have improved significantly. These achievements are the crystallization of the efforts of the entire political system and the consensus of the people, aiming at the goal of building a new countryside in a modern and sustainable direction.

According to the development orientation for the period 2025-2030, My An commune aims to mobilize all resources to promote economic restructuring towards industry, services, resorts, agriculture, while focusing on developing science, technology and digital transformation. The commune identifies this as the foundation for building a new rural area that is not only "qualified" but also "smart and modern", meeting the development requirements in the new period.

Chairman of the Commune People's Committee Nguyen Huu Dong said: "Towards the goal of achieving new rural standards by 2030 and striving to achieve advanced new rural standards, we have determined that the biggest goal is to improve the quality of life of the people. The commune continues to mobilize resources to complete infrastructure, expand residential roads, support production development and encourage people and businesses to participate. We pay special attention to creating a favorable environment for businesses and people to participate and benefit together."

My An commune continues to invest in completing infrastructure, expanding residential roads, and paving the route from National Highway 62 to Nhi My Bridge. The “State and People Working Together” projects contribute to changing the face of the countryside, facilitating trade and production.

At the same time, the locality promotes the application of science and technology in production, increases the rate of using certified varieties, encourages businesses to invest in processing, production, and develop trade and services, contributing to increasing the value of agricultural products and income for people.

There are currently more than 60 businesses, production and trading establishments operating stably in the area, contributing to creating jobs for local workers. The cultural and spiritual life of the people is increasingly improved; 8/8 hamlets have achieved the title of cultural hamlet, the rate of households achieving cultural family status every year is over 98%. Social security work has been well implemented, many community support models have brought practical results.

In addition to the role of the government, the success in building new rural areas in My An also has the contribution of people who are passionate about their homeland. One of them is Mr. Co Thanh Lam - owner of Gia Phuoc Food - Foodstuff Company Limited (Hamlet 3, My An Commune). Originally a construction engineer, after many years of working away from home, he returned with the desire to contribute to the development of his birthplace.

The milling line at Mr. Co Thanh Lam's factory (standing in the middle) has a capacity of 30,000-40,000 tons of finished rice per year.

To date, Mr. Lam's facility has created stable jobs for nearly 50 workers in the commune. "I always cherish the thought of returning to contribute to the development of my hometown. When I had the opportunity and saw that this land had potential for rice, I discussed with my family to invest in building a rice milling factory from 2020. I hope the locality will develop more and more, especially the upgraded transport infrastructure to make trading and transporting goods more convenient" - Mr. Lam shared.

With the synchronous participation of the entire political system and the proactive and creative spirit of the people, the appearance of the countryside is changing day by day, towards a rich, civilized and sustainable future./.
