
Quang Ninh has advantages in agricultural production with many distinctive agricultural products that have high economic value and great potential for development, such as: Mong Cai pigs, Tien Yen chickens, golden flower tea, Ba Che ginseng, sea worms, clams, etc. From 2021 to the present, the province has invested nearly 130,000 billion VND in the agricultural and rural areas, mainly to improve infrastructure, support production facilities in investing in machinery and equipment for deep processing, and apply new technologies.
To improve product quality and market competitiveness, the province has established several concentrated commodity production areas with a total area of approximately 6,358 hectares for rice, vegetables, and fruit trees (corresponding to over 10,900 hectares of cultivated land); about 1,100 hectares of crops are maintained according to good agricultural practices, of which 322.35 hectares have been certified VietGAP; 90 hectares of rice, 329 hectares of cinnamon, 10 hectares of golden flower tea, 3 hectares of oranges, and 25 hectares of tea have been certified as organic.
The province has one high-tech agricultural zone covering 106 hectares in Hoang Que ward and 50 high-tech production models. The area of greenhouses, glasshouses, and polytunnels used for crop production is over 19 hectares. The mechanization rate in farming is over 80%; of which, tillage machines are used for rice production on nearly 100% of the area; in concentrated production areas, combine harvesters cover 100% of the area; and threshing, milling, and polishing machines cover 100% of the area.
The province has issued 75 planting area codes and 9 packaging facility codes to monitor and control the quality of agricultural products and ensure transparent traceability, meeting the requirements of domestic and international markets, especially export markets.
In addition, the entire province has planned 45,146 hectares of sea area suitable for aquaculture, of which 31,000 hectares are allocated to organizations and individuals currently engaged in production, and over 14,000 hectares are designated to attract large-scale investment. All coastal localities have completed detailed plans and maps of aquaculture areas, gradually shifting from small-scale farming to concentrated, environmentally friendly commodity production. The Department of Agriculture and Environment has granted 41 aquaculture permits to organizations with a total licensed sea area of over 4,150 hectares; communes, wards, and special zones have allocated sea areas to 817 individuals with an area of over 503 hectares, achieving 100% of eligible applications.

The province places special emphasis on building and developing OCOP products with strong brands and high competitiveness in the market. The entire province has developed 432 OCOP products with 3 stars or higher (4 national-level 5-star products, 108 4-star products, and 320 3-star products). Participants in the OCOP program have actively applied Industry 4.0 technology and implemented digital transformation in management, brand development, distribution, marketing, e-commerce development, and modern sales channels (supermarkets, convenience stores, e-commerce platforms, etc.) to increase sales.
Currently, there are 28,125 establishments producing and trading agricultural, forestry, and aquatic food products throughout the province. To ensure food safety in the agricultural sector, functional agencies are strengthening control over the origin of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products from production, preliminary processing, processing to consumption; strictly handling counterfeit, imitation, and substandard goods; issuing 1,006 certificates of food safety compliance; and organizing the signing of commitments to produce and trade safe food for 27,119 establishments.
Building a brand for safe agricultural products helps products affirm their quality, enhance their reputation, and expand their reach in national and international markets.
