In this framework, member universities are granted autonomy to select, combine, and determine the weighting of admission criteria that suit the specific training characteristics of each unit.
The Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City affirms that its 2026 admissions orientation is a continuation and further refinement of the aforementioned policy, and is not a sudden change or elimination of the admission categories currently in place under the existing regulations.

In fact, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - VNU-HCM has been applying the combined admission method since 2022 and has achieved many positive results.
The integrated admission method is understood as the use of a unified admission formula framework. In this method, candidates can participate in the admission process using various input data sources, such as the results of the high school graduation exam, the results of the aptitude test organized by the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, high school academic results, and other appropriate criteria as stipulated.
For aptitude tests, this is one of the important tools for assessing academic ability, and the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City continues to encourage its use based on the autonomy of its member universities.
However, the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City does not require candidates to participate in this exam for admission consideration. Candidates using the results of the high school graduation exam or other valid results according to regulations are still guaranteed their rights and will be guided specifically in the admission plan of each unit.
In addition, the direct admission and priority admission policies stipulated by the Ministry of Education and Training will continue to be fully and consistently implemented without change.
