In February, the Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch processed customs clearance for goods with a total value of US$70.17 million, a decrease of 71% compared to the previous month (January 2024) but an increase of 20% compared to the same period last year.
Notably, the overall trade turnover decreased mainly due to a sharp decline in imports, while exports continued to maintain significant growth.
In February, the value of goods processed at the Customs Sub-department reached US$46.544 million, an increase of 6% compared to the previous month and a significant increase of 73% compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, imports totaled only $23.62 million, down 42% from the previous month and down 26% from the same period last year.
In the first two months of the year, the Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Branch processed customs clearance for goods with a total value of nearly 170 million USD, including exports of 90.3 million USD and imports of 79.3 million USD.
Main export items: various types of veneer, dragon fruit, durian, and charcoal. Of these, export value increased sharply due to durian, dragon fruit, watermelon, and cassava.
Main imported items: Agricultural products, confectionery, fertilizers, machinery and equipment, chemicals, liquefied petroleum gas.
