1,827 works qualified to participate in the Preliminary Round of the 18th National Press Awards

Opening of the 18th National Press Awards Preliminary Round - 2023.

Reporting on the work of synthesizing the Preliminary Round, Vice President of the Preliminary Council, Head of the Secretariat of the Award Synthesis Do Thi Thu Hang said:

This year, the National Press Award received the participation of 18/21 inter-branch associations, 30 affiliated branches, and 63/63 provincial and municipal journalist associations.

The organization and implementation of this year's Award at all levels of the Association was carried out in an orderly and effective manner. However, due to the late Lunar New Year holiday this year, along with preparations for the National Press Festival and several important conferences of the Vietnam Journalists Association , the submission of entries to the Award was later than in previous years and some Association levels did not follow the instructions.

This year, 1,905 works were submitted to the Award, continuing to reach an all-time high. Of these, 127 works had the participation of authors who were not members of the Vietnam Journalists Association.

The Secretariat has pre-screened 78 works and included 1,827 works that are eligible to participate in the preliminary round according to regulations.

The Head of the Secretariat synthesizes information: The 2023 National Press Awards will continue to have 11 award groups. In which, the categories: radio, television and electronic newspapers will continue to be judged online via the award judging software of the Vietnam Journalists Association.

Permanent Vice President of Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the Preliminary Council spoke.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Permanent Vice President of the National Press Awards Council, and Chairman of the Preliminary Council said that although the preliminary selection of works had been carried out seriously and strictly by the Awards Secretariat, due to the large volume of works submitted to the Awards and the limited time, there were certainly still omissions in the screening process.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Loi requested the Council to base on the Award Regulations and selection guidelines to evaluate the works, ensuring that the works selected for the final round are of good quality and comply with the established regulations.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Loi noted: This year, the National Press Awards Preliminary Judging Council has the same structure as last year, however, the members of the council have changed and adjusted in the direction of innovation and inheritance. Many members are participating in judging the National Press Awards for the first time. We request that the members of the jury promote their professional spirit and responsibility, be thorough and impartial in evaluating the works, contributing to the success of the most prestigious press award for Vietnamese journalists.
