The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced that registration for the 2024 10th grade entrance exam will open at 3 PM on May 3rd. 9th grade students can register at: https://Ts10.hcm.edu.vn.

According to the department, starting this year, candidates taking the 10th grade entrance exam will register entirely online, not on paper. Junior high schools will provide login accounts and instructions on how to register for their students.

Choose one foreign language for the 10th grade entrance exam.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, each candidate is allowed to register for 3 preferences for regular 10th grade classes. The preferences are arranged in order of priority from top to bottom, and candidates must attend the school of their preferred choice if they are accepted.

Candidates take three exams: Vietnamese language and literature, mathematics, and a foreign language (foreign language 1, which they are studying at their junior high school). For the foreign language exam, candidates have the right to choose to take one of the following foreign languages: English, French, Japanese, or Chinese.

Specifically for students currently studying Japanese (foreign language 1) at the lower secondary level, if they wish to continue studying Japanese in grade 10, they should prioritize registering at schools where Japanese is the first foreign language, including Trung Vuong High School, Le Quy Don High School, and Marie Curie High School.

According to the Department, in addition to regular 10th-grade classes, the Department of Education and Training also organizes admissions for specialized sports-oriented programs at two high schools: Nguyen Thi Dinh Sports-Oriented High School and Binh Chanh Sports-Oriented High School.

According to the guidelines for registering for the 10th grade specialized entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year issued by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, candidates can register for 3 specialized school preferences at 6 high schools. Specifically, as follows:

In addition to registering for 3 preferences for specialized schools and classes, each candidate can also register for 3 preferences for regular 10th-grade classes in high schools. Candidates can register for 3 specialized preferences at 6 high schools: Le Hong Phong Specialized High School, Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School, Gia Dinh High School, Nguyen Thuong Hien High School, Nguyen Huu Huan High School, and Mac Dinh Chi High School.

Candidates who have registered for the entrance exam to specialized 10th-grade classes will not be allowed to register for integrated English classes.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City has two types of specialized English classes. Candidates will choose one of the two:

Traditional English specialized class: Candidates take one English specialized exam, similar to previous years.

The specialized English class under Project 5695 (also known as the specialized English-Mathematics- Science class): Candidates take one exam in the specialized English subject under Project 5695, which includes English, and mathematics and natural sciences, all in English.

This specialized class is only offered at two specialized high schools: Le Hong Phong Specialized High School and Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School.

Eight choices for students taking the integrated 10th grade entrance exam.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced that this year, candidates applying for the integrated English program in grade 10 will also be able to register simultaneously for the new specialized English class (also known as the specialized English class under Project 5695 or the specialized English-Mathematics-Science class).

To register simultaneously, candidates must take at least one exam in English, Mathematics, or Science in English (in addition to the three exams in Literature, Mathematics, and Foreign Language).

Specifically, candidates have 2 preferences for specialized English classes in grade 10 under Project 5695, 3 preferences for integrated English classes in grade 10, and 3 preferences for regular grade 10 classes.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Ho Chi Minh City will have two schools offering specialized English classes under Project 5695 (in addition to the traditional specialized English classes): Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted.
