According to information presented at the seminar, Mr. Pham Dinh Tien - Head of Planning and Operations Department ( Hanoi Traffic Management and Operation Center) said that from the beginning of the year until now, the city's bus and metro systems have transported approximately 300 million passengers (an increase of 8.4%) compared to the same period in 2023.

Regarding the two metro lines specifically, Mr. Vu Hong Truong, General Director of Hanoi Railway Company Limited, said: Since its operation began (November 6, 2021), the Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro line (Hanoi's first railway line) has transported more than 28.1 million passengers.
On average, during weekdays (Monday to Friday), there are approximately 40,000 to 44,000 passengers using the Cat Linh train. Notably, about 80-85% of Cat Linh - Ha Dong train passengers use monthly passes.
"The government has a policy of subsidizing public transportation to encourage people to use it, especially during peak hours, to avoid congestion. Businesses are trying to maximize their capacity to reduce subsidies. The goal is to have as many people as possible use public transportation, especially during peak hours," Mr. Truong said, adding that the Cat Linh - Ha Dong route alone has more than 12,000 monthly pass holders.

Mr. Truong affirmed: The Cat Linh - Ha Dong Metro line is changing people's commuting habits. We need to encourage people to walk more and use other means of transportation for connectivity. Walking 1-2km to reach a station is perfectly normal.
Regarding the Nhon - Hanoi Station route, Mr. Truong informed that as of yesterday (September 25th), the elevated section of the Nhon - Hanoi Station route had transported nearly 1.3 million passengers.
