Microsoft has just released a report that shows which jobs are most likely to be replaced by AI after analyzing more than 200,000 interactions with Bing Copilot. The report "Working with AI: Measuring the Occupational Implications of Generative AI" by Microsoft Research, published on July 31, analyzed more than 200,000 interactions with Bing Copilot to determine the jobs most likely to be affected by AI. The report uses an "AI applicability score" to evaluate.

Jobs vulnerable to AI

Research shows that jobs that involve language, information analysis, and communication are most likely to be affected. These include: translators, historians, salespeople, customer service representatives, journalists, and university lecturers.

In addition, positions such as authors, editors, economics teachers, librarians, and agricultural instructors are also included in this group.

The report also lists 40 other occupations, including web developer, data scientist , and market analyst.

However, Microsoft emphasizes that while AI can perform a large portion of the tasks in a job, that doesn't mean the entire profession will be eliminated.

Instead, many jobs will shift to a “co-working with AI” model rather than being completely replaced.

Less affected occupations

Jobs that require manual labor, using machinery or equipment, are considered less vulnerable to AI. This list includes: excavator operators, bridge equipment installers and operators, water treatment workers, carpenters, boat drivers, floor tilers, and beauticians.

The study also found that jobs requiring a bachelor’s degree are at higher risk of being impacted by AI than those that do not require such a degree, suggesting that a college education is no longer a guarantee of absolute safety in the labor market.

The study concluded that AI will increase productivity and help humans complete tasks faster. However, human skills such as critical thinking, creativity and ethics will still be important, especially in complex fields.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang once made a famous comment on this issue: "You won't lose your job because of AI, you will lose your job because someone else knows how to use AI better."
