Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung emphasized: In recent times, An Giang province has implemented many effective solutions to combat IUU fishing, but there are still some shortcomings.
Mr. Ho Van Mung requested that in the coming time, it is necessary to absolutely prevent fishing vessels from violating foreign waters; the Department of Agriculture and Environment advises the Provincial People's Committee to strengthen the Provincial Steering Committee for IUU Prevention and Control; the Provincial Police Department to strengthen the Investigation and Verification Team of the Steering Committee. The Department of Agriculture and Environment advises on developing the plan of the Provincial Steering Committee, supplementing, adjusting, and assigning tasks with the spirit of 6 clear: Clear people, clear work, clear time, clear responsibility, clear products, clear authority; strengthen the responsibility of the leader.
At the same time, promote propaganda work, diversify forms through newspapers, social networking sites... about violations and penalties, regulations on combating IUU fishing at fishing ports, fishing wharves, and piers to raise awareness of fishermen, ship owners and captains, and prevent IUU fishing violations.
Continue to do a good job of managing fishing vessels such as: Registering fishing vessels, issuing fishing licenses, keeping logs, monitoring and supervising voyage monitoring devices (VMS). Further promote the application of science and technology. The provincial Border Guard strengthens law enforcement, patrols, controls and strictly handles IUU fishing violations to ensure clear responsibilities, urgency, strictness, and dissemination of results of handling violations.
Strengthen inspection, supervision, commendation and reward work. Implement long-term fundamental solutions for people to solve employment. Accordingly, the Department of Agriculture and Environment consults and develops plans to convert people from exploitation to aquaculture and other occupations.

According to the report, by July 15, An Giang province had completed the registration, inspection, and issuance of fishing licenses for the "3 no" fishing vessel group for 2,090/2,090 vessels (achieving 100% of the plan).
The province has 10,026 registered fishing vessels; 7,066/10,026 fishing vessels have valid fishing licenses (accounting for 70.5%). For the group of fishing vessels with the longest length of 12 m or more that are subject to inspection, 4,312/4,987 fishing vessels (86.5%) have valid inspection licenses.
The installation rate of voyage monitoring system (VMS) reached 99.53%. Through monitoring, the number of ships crossing the maritime boundary decreased by 66%, and the number of ships losing connection to VMS decreased by 88% compared to the same period.
The locality has supported 4 batches for 30,660 fishing boats with a total amount of more than 5.3 billion VND according to Resolution No. 24/2022/NQ-HDND.
Have 10,026 (100%) registered fishing vessels of the province The ship owner's citizen identification data is updated on the national fishing vessel database (VNFISHBASE) to synchronize with the national population data (VNeID).
Control and supervise the unloading of 100% of fishing vessels docking at 2 designated fishing ports in the province; count and supervise the unloading of goods through fishing ports inside and outside the province with a total output of 28,572 tons. Issue 2,662/3,619 accounts for fishing vessels from 15 m and above (accounting for 74%) using the eCDT seafood traceability system; 100% of the files for issuing port unloading receipts, certificates of raw materials for exploited seafood, and certificates of origin for exploited seafood are issued through the eCDT seafood traceability system.
