On March 15, Foreign Minister Penny Wong announced that Australia would continue to fund the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
The statement comes nearly two months after Australia suspended funding following allegations that some of its staff were involved in the Hamas attack on the Gaza Strip on October 7.
Ms. Wong also pledged an additional AUD 4 million (USD 2.6 million) to UNICEF to provide emergency services in Gaza, and a C17 Globemaster aircraft to support the dropping of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Australia's move follows Sweden, the European Commission, and Canada in restoring funding for UNRWA.
