During the September 2nd holiday this year, thousands of tourists from all over flocked to Vung Tau to have fun and swim in the sea. Many people were surprised by the changes in Bai Sau, the entire beach area was "returned" to its true state for the people and tourists.
The Thuy Van Street Renovation Project, previously invested by the People's Committee of Vung Tau City, started construction in October 2024 on a 19.2-hectare land plot, stretching 3.2 km along Thuy Van Street, including 12 main items and a central square.

To implement the project, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau (old) reclaimed more than 28 hectares along the coast of Bai Sau, the land previously assigned to enterprises. The process of reclaiming and implementing the project also encountered many difficulties due to the lack of agreement with the enterprises leasing the land as well as some enterprises not voluntarily handing over. However, the People's Committee of Vung Tau City was still determined to carry out the project.
The project has a total investment of nearly 1,100 billion VND, including sidewalks, trees, drainage, public service stations, check-in areas... all of which have been completed and put into use.
The entire sidewalk is paved with uniform stone, the lighting system is artistic and the trees are arranged in a modern way, creating a spacious space for walking and watching the sea. Underground infrastructure and drainage works are also invested.
In addition, all beachside chair, food and beverage, and parking services have been rearranged in order, replacing the messy, chaotic scene that existed for many years.
After renovation, the entire Back Beach has 6 public service stations with nearly 1,000 toilets, private bathrooms and communal showers.
Tourists can comfortably experience fresh water showers and toilet services after swimming in the sea. A new lifeguard station system has been invested in to serve the increasing needs of tourists.
Tam Thang Square was also sponsored by enterprises with more than 155 billion VND, constructed at lightning speed in 75 days and has been officially put into use, attracting thousands of tourists to take pictures and have fun.
Unable to hide her excitement, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung (a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City) said: "I go to Vung Tau quite often, but this time I was really surprised. The space is clean, airy, and walking on the stone sidewalk to watch the sea is very pleasant."
Mr. Tran Quoc Huy (a tourist from Binh Duong ) also shared: "What I like most is that the paths down to the sea are now spacious and unobstructed. At night, the artistic lighting along Thuy Van route is very beautiful, creating the feeling of being in a modern coastal city."
With its "transformed" appearance, Bai Sau, Vung Tau ward, Ho Chi Minh City is not only a familiar beach but has become a modern cultural - tourism - entertainment space, promising to bring new development momentum to Vung Tau in the coming period.
