Going through difficult times with the country, although the business community and entrepreneurs themselves are struggling with many difficulties and challenges in the face of unpredictable developments in the world situation, natural disasters and floods caused by increasingly severe extreme weather phenomena, with the spirit of mutual love and responsibility for the community, the Vietnamese business community and entrepreneurs still devote a lot of human and material resources to support compatriots, the disadvantaged, and people in storm and flood areas...

During the meeting between the Prime Minister and representatives of the business community on the occasion of Vietnam Entrepreneurs' Day on October 4, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recalled each story when Typhoon Yagi devastated 26 provinces and cities from the North, causing huge losses in human lives and property. "We were very moved when businesses and businessmen voluntarily contributed, shared, and helped flood victims very sincerely, enthusiastically, and effectively, showing that the national spirit, compatriotism, solidarity, and unity of our nation always play an effective role in difficult and challenging times," said the Prime Minister.

Previously, on September 21, when chairing the Conference of the Government Standing Committee working with businesses on solutions to contribute to the country's socio -economic development, the Prime Minister asked businesses to promote "six pioneers", including the content of pioneering in solidarity, unity, mutual support, working together, enjoying together, winning together, developing businesses and developing the country.

In fact, in recent years, the phrase corporate social responsibility has been mentioned a lot. Specifically, many businesses actively contribute to local community activities to demonstrate their responsibility to society. It can be understood that corporate social responsibility refers to the efforts and responsibilities of businesses to minimize or avoid harmful impacts and maximize positive and long-term beneficial impacts on society.

In addition, corporate social responsibility is defined as a tool for organizations and businesses to complete their business activities, while contributing to solving social problems and achieving commitments to society. In a broader sense, corporate social responsibility is considered an effective means to achieve competitive advantage. Charity programs and corporate sustainable development strategies are a comprehensive approach for businesses to maximize long-term economic, social and environmental value.

When the Yagi storm passed, leaving economic scars, the social responsibility of enterprises was also clearly concretized, and the pioneering of "leading cranes" such as: Vingruop, Hoa Phat, Thaco, VNPT was recognized by the community.

Without delay, Vingroup announced a donation of 250 billion VND to people affected by Typhoon Yagi and flash floods. The funds will be allocated directly to emergency relief activities such as rebuilding about 2,000 collapsed houses, and providing 150-300 million VND to families with fatalities. The remaining amount will be used to support families with injured people or those with severe damage to crops and livestock, as well as to support cleanup and contribute to the reconstruction of key works and infrastructure serving the people.

Or as with Hoa Phat, also a business affected by storm Yagi, Hoa Phat's factories and farms in the northern provinces of Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Bac Giang, Thai Binh, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, which suffered damage, have proactively spent tens of billions of VND to support the affected people and joined hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses to create "Warm homes for my people".

Meanwhile, according to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the list of organizations supporting flood victims in the North is also getting longer, with a number of small and medium-sized units, and then individuals across the country. The number of units sending money to support flood victims in the North is increasing. Among them are businesses directly affected by the storm and flood situation.

In addition to cash, relief shipments were also diligently delivered to people in the flood-hit areas. The cooperation of businesses has demonstrated the spirit of mutual love in the midst of difficulties. These practical actions are not only a testament to the solidarity of businesses in accompanying the community to overcome difficulties, contributing to minimizing the impact of natural disasters on people's lives, promoting and moving towards sustainable development of society.

With many efforts and attempts in many fields and industries, the economy has regained growth momentum, recovered relatively clearly in many fields, achieved many important results, and been highly appreciated by international organizations and businesses. It can be seen that, over time, the role, position, importance as well as the great contributions of Vietnamese enterprises and entrepreneurs to the economic development of the country are increasingly clearly demonstrated.

It is worth mentioning that Vietnam has had large-scale national enterprises and economic groups, playing an important role, being the core and pioneering force leading the development of industries, fields and the economy, contributing to the strong growth of the National Brand. Many enterprises have risen to master technology, take the lead in innovation, have brands, create ecosystems for small and medium-sized enterprises to develop together, and quickly participate in the program calling for ensuring social security.

Also in the context of production and business activities being increasingly affected by natural disasters, storms, floods, and political conflicts, the business community and entrepreneurs have always upheld the spirit of sharing and accompanying the country, overcoming difficulties, overcoming hardships, self-reliance, and striving to adapt to challenging circumstances to maintain operations, maintain jobs for workers, and livelihoods for people.

Back in 2021, when the COVID-19 pandemic appeared in Vietnam, we also remember the images of businesses contributing money to build a COVID-19 prevention fund. With responsibility for the community, with the spirit of "the safety or development of each individual is closely linked to the safety of the whole community", the business community together with the country overcame the pandemic, and especially, in that critical moment, solidarity, mutual love, and compatriotism were strongly activated.

Courage and strong desire to rise up

In the development process, Vietnamese entrepreneurs not only play a role in promoting economic growth but also become important factors in building society and sustainable development. Large enterprises such as Vingroup, Hoa Phat, Thaco, Masan not only invest in industrial and commercial fields but also pioneer in innovation, mastering technology and expanding international markets.

In particular, the role of enterprises in developing national infrastructure is also clearly demonstrated through investment in large projects such as developing highway networks, smart urban areas, and renewable energy systems. This not only helps improve Vietnam's competitiveness in the international arena but also contributes to building a solid foundation for the country's sustainable development.

In recent years, Vietnam has achieved many important achievements in the process of international economic integration. With the participation of 16 free trade agreements (FTAs) and the increase in foreign direct investment (FDI), Vietnamese enterprises have had the opportunity to access large markets in the world, thereby expanding production scale and improving competitiveness. Thus, the business community is not only a leader in economic development but also an important factor in enhancing Vietnam's position in the international arena.

It is noteworthy that in the context of the global economy being affected by many unstable factors, Vietnamese enterprises are still constantly innovating and creating to adapt to new development trends. Large enterprises have been actively participating in the digital transformation process, applying high technology to production, and at the same time creating business ecosystems connecting small and medium enterprises. These are important steps for Vietnam to catch up with the development trends of the times, while contributing to the cause of building a digital economy that the Government is orienting.

Not stopping at overcoming immediate difficulties, Vietnamese entrepreneurs also aim for long-term goals and aspirations to build a strong and sustainable developing country. In the 10-year Socio-Economic Development Strategy (2021-2030), the Government has clearly identified the goal of rapid and sustainable development based on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation. To realize these goals, the role of the business community is indispensable. Enterprises are constantly striving to master technology, expand markets and create high added value in the fields of production, trade and services.

According to comrade Tran Luu Quang, member of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Economic Commission: "Arouse the aspiration to develop the country, strongly promote the cultural values, Vietnamese people and the strength of the times, mobilize all resources for rapid and sustainable development." Vietnamese entrepreneurs, with the spirit of innovation, constantly improving themselves and adapting to changes in the international market, have been affirming their pioneering role in leading the economy towards sustainable development.

In the country's development journey, shaping a long-term vision is very important. The socio-economic development strategy to 2045 sets the goal of becoming a developed country with high income. This is a big challenge, but also an opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises to become leaders in the region and the world. The success of large enterprises such as Vingroup, Thaco, and Hoa Phat not only demonstrates the country's development aspirations but also proves that with effort and creativity, Vietnamese entrepreneurs are fully capable of competing on the global stage.

To realize this vision, both the political system and businesses need to cooperate closely. The government must create favorable conditions in terms of institutions, legal corridors, and business environment so that businesses can maximize their capacity. At the same time, businesses need to seize opportunities from free trade agreements, innovate, and take advantage of the digital transformation process to improve their competitiveness.

Throughout the challenging journey, Vietnamese entrepreneurs have not only demonstrated their ability to overcome difficulties but also aroused the desire to create the future, contributing to the cause of building and developing the country. They are not only the leading economic force but also pioneers in connecting society, demonstrating the spirit of mutual love and responsibility towards the community. In the most difficult times, Vietnamese entrepreneurs have proven that they not only know how to overcome challenges but also turn those difficulties into motivation to rise stronger.
