Ensuring the quality and progress of the National Highway 28B renovation and upgrade project

The Provincial Party Secretary and provincial leaders directly inspected the progress of the National Highway 28B renovation and upgrade project.

Reporting to the Secretary of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Le Van Chung, Deputy Director of Project Management Board 5, said that the value of the project implementation to date is about 620/1,083 billion VND, reaching 57%. Of which, crushed stone is distributed for 45/68km (reaching 66%), asphalt concrete is paved for 37/68km (reaching 54%).

Up to now, the site has been handed over to relevant units for 63km/68km (reaching 91.5%). However, the XD1 package (Km0–Km42) has only completed 13/41km (32%), behind the Ministry of Construction 's request to shorten the progress. Meanwhile, the XD2 package (Km42–Km69) has reached 94% of the volume, the contractor committed to completing it in December 2025.

Construction units said that the prolonged heavy rains in recent times have made the construction of roadbeds and earthworks difficult, especially when the slopes collapsed at many locations (Km21+500, Km22+100, Km45+300, Km44+500, Km48+800). Contractors must focus on repairing and clearing to ensure traffic safety.

After listening to the report and inspecting the actual situation, Provincial Party Secretary Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam requested the investor and contractor to proactively overcome difficulties during the construction process. Lam Dong Province will continue to accompany relevant units to implement the project with the highest efficiency.

The Provincial Party Secretary and provincial leaders, departments and branches presented gifts to workers and functional forces performing the task of overcoming landslides on National Highway 28B.

The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 28B was approved by the Ministry of Construction for investment in November 2023, and assigned Project Management Board 5 as the investor. The project has a total length of about 68km, is part of the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025, and is required to be handed over in 2026.

The project is of great significance in socio-economic development, connecting “Lam Dong of thousands of flowers” and “Lam Dong of blue sea”, contributing to promoting trade, tourism and transport of goods between regions.
