Southeast Asian newspapers react when U23 Vietnam wins Asian tournament

(Dan Tri) - Indonesian and Thai newspapers commented after U23 Vietnam won 2-0 against U23 Bangladesh in the qualifying round of the U23 Asian Cup.

On the evening of September 3, U23 Vietnam won 2-0 against U23 Bangladesh in the opening match of the U23 Asian Cup qualifiers. This was a predictable result as U23 Vietnam was rated much higher than its opponent.

Commenting on the victory of the Vietnam U23 team, Bola newspaper wrote: “The two teams Vietnam U23 and Thailand U23 continue to show that they are the teams that dominate youth football in Southeast Asia. Coincidentally, these two teams both had easy victories against Bangladesh U23 and Mongolia U23.

As U23 Vietnam and U23 Thailand are still on the right track to win tickets to the final round of the U23 Asian tournament.

Meanwhile, U23 Indonesia was the most disappointing team in Southeast Asia when they were held to a 0-0 draw by U23 Laos at their home stadium Delta in Sidoarjo. This draw made the chance of the team from the archipelago country participating in the Asian tournament slim.

U23 Thailand also proved its position in the continental arena when it won 6-0 against U23 Mongolia.

They are the two Southeast Asian teams leading their group after the first round of matches of the U23 Asian Cup.

Ball Thai newspaper said that U23 Vietnam won easily and did not encounter too many obstacles against U23 Bangladesh. They assessed that the challenge for U23 Vietnam will only come when they face U23 Yemen in the final match on September 9.
