When will provincial road 523B be upgraded?

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Provincial Road 523B from Cam Tu commune to Dien Lu commune is 32km long and is considered a vital traffic route, connecting the centers of Cam Tu, Quy Luong and Dien Lu communes. However, due to being built long ago and on a small scale, the road has now deteriorated and cannot meet the needs of trade.

When will provincial road 523B be upgraded?

Provincial Road 523B is seriously degraded, the road surface has many potholes, posing a potential risk to traffic safety.

Taking us to the field, "witnessing" the "potholes" like traps on provincial road 523B through Dien Lu commune, Party cell secretary, head of Dien Ly village, Le Chi Dung, said: On provincial road 523B passing through the village, recently, the road surface has appeared peeling and formed many large and small "potholes". As a vital road connecting the communes: Cam Tu, Quy Luong, Dien Lu and neighboring communes, the daily traffic volume is relatively large. The large and small "potholes" on the road are like "traps" for traffic participants and become an obsession for people living on both sides of the road, students going to school every day, especially during rush hour. Because when it's sunny, the dust is thick, when it rains, the road surface is flooded, making it difficult for people and vehicles to move. “Currently, the road is in bad condition and has many potholes with a length of about 1.5km on the route through Dien Ly and Dien Giang villages. We request the province to pay attention to investing and upgrading the road so that people's travel will be less difficult,” Mr. Dung expressed.

The deterioration of provincial road 523B also affects the lives of people in Quy Luong commune. The section passing through the commune has "potholes" about 12.5km long. Unable to bear the situation of muddy water being splashed into their houses by the wheels every time it rains, many households on both sides of the road have had to use soil and rocks to fill the holes. However, after only a few days, everything went back to normal. Mr. Bui Van Tho, an expert from the Economic Department of Quy Luong Commune People's Committee, shared: Provincial road 523B starts from Cam Tu commune, passes through Quy Luong commune to National Highway 217 in Dien Lu commune, with a length of 32km. In Quy Luong commune, 12.5km was built a long time ago, so the road surface has deteriorated over time. Therefore, the damage is happening along the entire route, along with "potholes", in many places the asphalt coating has peeled off, creating deep holes. At the same time, many locations were completely damaged and very narrow, two cars had difficulty avoiding each other, very easy to cause collisions between vehicles. The most degraded road surface was the section through the villages: Mat Thanh, Quang Trung, Dau Ca, Ngoc Sinh, Mang with a length of about 2.7km.

It is known that in order to ensure traffic on provincial road 523B, in 2023, the Department of Transport (now the Department of Construction) repaired the sections Km0+530-Km1+00, Km4+900-Km5+400, Km21+900-Km22+600, Km24+00-Km24+700, with a total investment of 8 billion VND. However, after a long time of use, combined with the impact of floods, complex terrain and increasing traffic volume, the road has become increasingly seriously degraded.

Faced with the above situation, people in Cam Tu, Quy Luong and Dien Lu communes have repeatedly reflected and made recommendations through voter meetings. At the same time, they hope that the province will soon have a plan to invest in upgrading and expanding the road, ensuring smooth and convenient travel for people, and peace of mind in economic development.
