FAM has filed an appeal against FIFA’s punishment, but the world’s top football body has yet to make a final decision. FIFA’s delay in making a decision beyond the October 30 deadline has left the entire Southeast Asia anxiously awaiting.

Bola newspaper believes that the possibility of FAM successfully appealing FIFA's penalty is very low (Photo: Bola).
Bola (Indonesia) said that the possibility of FAM's appeal being successful is very low, although some positive signs have appeared. This newspaper commented: "FAM is still waiting for FIFA's final decision.
According to information revealed by Sabado Velez, the official media channel of Velez Sarsfield Club, where one of the naturalized Malaysian players, Imanol Machuca, is playing, FIFA may make a final decision on November 3 or November 4.
Sources close to Velez Sarsfield are optimistic about FAM's appeal process, especially after FIFA held a hearing with seven players on October 30. "Everything will be fine," the source shared.
However, the chance for FAM to turn the situation around is almost gone. Because FIFA has released additional documents, confirming that all grandparents of the 7 naturalized players were born outside Malaysia, while FAM submitted copies of birth certificates, stating their birthplaces as Melaka, Penang, Johor and Kuching.

Therefore, it is very difficult for FAM to turn the tables in this case when FIFA has a lot of solid evidence in hand. According to the regulations of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), if a team uses an ineligible player, the other team will be awarded a 3-0 win. Thus, it is possible that Malaysia will be awarded a 0-3 loss in the matches against Vietnam and Nepal.
Meanwhile, Tribunnews emphasized: “FIFA’s delay in announcing the final verdict is not a good omen for Malaysia. Because FIFA wants to consolidate more evidence before making the final verdict with FAM. A big storm is waiting for Malaysian football.
The fact that the Argentine newspaper Capital de Noticias released further evidence showing that midfielder Facundo Garces has no Malaysian roots whatsoever makes FAM even more weak in the argument.
