On the morning of November 4, President Luong Cuong presided over the announcement ceremony and presented the decision to promote the rank of Senior Lieutenant General to officers of the People's Army.
According to the decision of the President, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau and Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai, both members of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of National Defense , were promoted to the rank of Senior Lieutenant General.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau was born in 1967 in Vinh Long province. He holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Mr. Gau is an officer who has worked for a long time in the Army. In early 2022, he was transferred and appointed to the position of Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.
More than two years later, Mr. Nguyen Van Gau was appointed as Secretary of the Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee. When Bac Ninh merged with Bac Giang to form the new Bac Ninh province, he held the position of Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee. Last September, he continued to be appointed as Deputy Minister of National Defense.
Senior Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai was born in 1967 in Quang Ninh. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Border Defense and worked for many years at the Border Defense Force of Quang Ninh Province. Before becoming Deputy Minister of National Defense, Mr. Thai was Commander of the Border Defense Force.
