On the afternoon of November 25, in Cam Ranh City, Khanh Hoa Province, the Navy coordinated with Military Regions 4, 5, 7, and 9 to organize the closing ceremony of the Good Ship Competition and the Training Sports Festival for Standing Militia Squadron Ships (Competition and Sports Festival) in 2024.
Held from November 11th in four regions: Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, and Kien Giang , the competition and training exercise was a great success, ensuring safety in all aspects. This was the first time the Navy was entrusted by the Ministry of National Defense to organize the "Best Ship" competition and the training exercise for the permanent militia naval squadron. Therefore, the organizing committee and the Navy's agencies made great efforts and coordinated well with local agencies and units to research, develop, and finalize the regulations. The judging panel actively and proactively developed the competition documents meticulously, in accordance with regulations, and closely aligned with the actual situation and the requirements of training and combat readiness.

Preparations for the competition and sports festival were carried out closely and according to plan. The participating units were united and humble in learning. The militia officers and soldiers on duty on the ships took advantage of their time to review their knowledge and practice their operations; focused on preserving, painting, repairing, and maintaining the uniformity and quality of the technical equipment and weapons on the ships.
The results of the competitions and exercises achieved the objectives and requirements in terms of form, organization, methods, and content, both in depth and breadth. Through these competitions and exercises, the combat readiness, operational skills, and ability to master technical equipment and seafaring of the permanent militia forces have been enhanced, meeting the requirements of protecting maritime and island sovereignty .
Overall results: In the "Good Ship" competition, 100% of participating ships achieved a "Good" or "Excellent" rating (63% achieved an "Excellent" rating); in the "Ship Training Competition," 100% of ships achieved a "Good" or "Excellent" rating (57.8% achieved an "Excellent" rating). In the overall competition, 100% of ships achieved a "Good" or "Excellent" rating (63.1% achieved an "Excellent" rating). Ships belonging to the Standing Militia Squadron of the Da Nang City Military Command won first prize; ships belonging to the Standing Militia Squadrons of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Khanh Hoa Provincial Military Commands won second prize; and ships belonging to the Standing Militia Squadrons of the Quang Ngai, Kien Giang, and Quang Tri Provincial Military Commands won third prize.

In his closing remarks, Rear Admiral Phan Tuan Hung commended and congratulated the members of the Organizing Committee, the Judging Panel, and the officers and soldiers of the permanent militia ships for successfully completing their tasks and achieving high results in the competition and sports event.
The Deputy Commander of the Navy requested that Party committees and commanders of agencies and units continue to thoroughly understand and effectively implement the resolutions of higher levels on "Improving the quality of training in the period 2023-2030 and beyond; focusing on improving the comprehensive leadership capacity and combat strength of Party organizations in each task; paying attention to the material and spiritual lives and focusing on educating officers and soldiers of the permanent militia naval squadron to have firm political resolve, high determination, excellent technical and tactical skills, and creative thinking capacity in performing tasks; promoting initiatives and technical improvements applied to the exploitation, preservation, and maintenance of technical equipment, striving for each ship to become a good, regular, and exemplary ship."

Rear Admiral Phan Tuan Hung also instructed Party committees and unit commanders to organize lessons learned and develop plans to overcome shortcomings and limitations in competitions and exercises; review and summarize inadequacies and inconsistencies in technical support, implementation of combat deployment schedules, ship regulations, etc., and propose them to relevant agencies of the Ministry of National Defense for revision, supplementation, and improvement to ensure uniform implementation throughout the entire force.
On this occasion, the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army awarded commendations to 38 collectives and 31 individuals for their outstanding achievements in participating in competitions and providing support and assistance during the competitions and sports events.
