Thong Nhat General Hospital achieved Platinum certification in stroke treatment

(DN)- On June 23, Thong Nhat General Hospital organized a ceremony to reward groups with outstanding achievements in emergency care for patients with cerebral infarction. At the same time, it received the Platinum certification from the World Stroke Association in stroke treatment.

Accordingly, the hospital awarded the following departments: Emergency, Neurology, Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiovascular Intervention.

Specialist II Doctor Nguyen Dinh Thai, Head of the Department of Neurology, said that in the first quarter of 2025, the hospital received and treated 97 cases of cerebral infarction, with an average age of 63.1 years old. Among them, many patients came during the "golden" hour and were given emergency care and timely treatment, recovering completely or with few sequelae. In particular, many very serious cases were miraculously saved and returned to normal life.

To achieve the above results, it is necessary to mention the smooth and effective coordination between the related departments and rooms. From the stage of receiving patients to intervention, treatment for patients, physical therapy, rehabilitation... The hospital is continuing to make efforts and strive to achieve Diamond certification in the near future.

To date, there are 4 public hospitals in the province that treat stroke. Of which, Dong Nai General Hospital has achieved Diamond certification; Thong Nhat General Hospital and Long Khanh Regional General Hospital have achieved Platinum certification. The remaining unit is Dinh Quan Regional General Hospital.

Symptoms of stroke include: crooked mouth, slurred speech, difficulty speaking, sudden weakness in arms and legs, etc. When seeing a loved one with the above symptoms, people need to quickly take the patient to the nearest hospital that treats strokes for treatment within the "golden" time frame.
