On June 30, the Vietnam Rencontres du Vietnam and the ICISE Center in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP) organized the “Advanced School on Quantum Topological Materials.”

Nearly 40 leading scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students from 10 countries including the UK, Canada, Chile, Japan, Korea, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines and Singapore participated.

Among them, many internationally renowned scientists such as Professor Duncan Haldane, Nobel Prize in Physics 2016; Professor Dam Thanh Son, University of Chicago (USA), Dirac Medal 2018; Professor Yoshimasa Hidaka, Kyoto University (Japan), Particle Physics Medal 2025; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Tuan Hung, Tohoku University, Japan; Associate Professor, Dr. Bo Yang, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore); Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Dung, Institute of Basic Sciences (IBS), Korea... participated in the guidance.

According to the Organizing Committee, this is the first advanced school in Southeast Asia specializing in quantum topological materials to provide a comprehensive academic platform for graduate students, young researchers and experienced scientists who are interested in or pursuing new research directions of topological quantum systems.

The school aims not only to advance scientific knowledge but also to strengthen quantum research capacity in the region; thereby contributing to the global picture of quantum science and technology.

Here, scientists and researchers have provided a solid theoretical foundation, updated the latest advances in the field; at the same time promoted extensive academic dialogue and formed an international research community.

The program encourages participants to practice critical thinking, develop independent research capacity and build sustainable scientific cooperation networks.

Among them, the main contents of “Advanced School of Quantum Topological Materials” include Topological Band Theory; Topological Quantum Matters; Quantum Field Theory Approaches; Generalized Symmetries; Artificial Intelligence.

Through this academic program, young scientists and postgraduates will have access to modern theories, develop independent research capacity; and at the same time expand the international cooperation network - the foundation for the long-term development of Vietnamese science in the era of globalization.

Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Binh Dinh province Nguyen Huu Ha said that the locality always determines that science andeducation are the only strategic and sustainable path to strongly develop the province in the new era.

Quantum topological materials is a pioneering, highly interdisciplinary field that connects theoretical physics, materials science, quantum computing, and artificial intelligence.

Research in this field is opening up the possibilities of technological breakthroughs of the 21st century. After the AI revolution, quantum technology will be the next revolution of humanity in the not too distant future.

Organizing an advanced school in Southeast Asia, specifically in Quy Nhon, represents a strategic step in developing the region's quantum science community and enhancing Vietnam's scientific position in the international arena.

In recent years, quantum topological materials have emerged as a promising interdisciplinary field, bridging theoretical physics, condensed matter physics, materials science, and especially quantum computing.

“Advanced School on Quantum Topological Materials” takes place from June 30 to July 5, 2025./.
