
Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung thanked the senior leaders and people of Laos for the extremely respectful and thoughtful reception given to General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, during their State visit to Laos, their participation in the 50th anniversary of Laos' National Day; their co-chairing of the High-Level Meeting between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (December 1-2); and the delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, their co-chairing of the 48th Session of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee (December 3). This deeply reflects the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
Minister Le Hoai Trung emphasized that recent diplomatic activities have marked an important milestone, opening a new chapter and elevating the relationship between the two parties and two countries to a new level with deeper substance.
Lao Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane expressed his pleasure at witnessing the strong development of Vietnam-Lao relations to a new level, and highly appreciated the regular high-level contacts between the two sides, demonstrating the close bond and trust between the two Parties, two States, and the people of the two countries.
On this occasion, in addition to agreeing to continue to closely coordinate the effective implementation of high-level agreements and to cooperate in preparing well for the upcoming Party Congresses of each country, both sides also emphasized the need to continue to effectively implement the Cooperation Agreement between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs for the period 2026 - 2030.
During the phone call, the two ministers agreed that in the coming period, both sides will continue to maintain close coordination and strengthen cooperation within the new framework and orientation, emphasizing the importance of the 16-word relationship: "great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, strategic alignment"; the new relationship framework reflects a shared vision, intertwined strategic interests, and a long-term partnership for the sustainable development, self-reliance, and common prosperity of both nations.
Both sides also shared views on the global and regional situation; agreed to actively exchange assessments of the situation and closely coordinate positions on issues of common concern in the region, especially within the ASEAN framework, for peace, stability, and sustainable development.
Minister Le Hoai Trung expressed his hope to soon welcome Comrade Thongsavanh Phomvihane to Vietnam and co-chair the 12th Ministerial-level Political Consultations in the near future.
