Minister Nguyen Manh Hung received Professor Yann LeCun, Director of Artificial Intelligence Science and Vice President of Meta Group.

During the meeting, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung provided an overview of strategies and policies related to semiconductors and AI development in Vietnam. Specifically, Vietnam has recently issued a national strategy on the semiconductor industry and a national strategy on research, development, and application of artificial intelligence, both drafted by the Ministry of Information and Communications . Simultaneously, the Telecommunications Law has been passed, contributing to the development of data centers in Vietnam. The Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam has also declared that Vietnam's technology strategy is based on open source and open technology, including 5G networks based on the OpenRAN standard, the Minister stated.

In his presentation, Professor Yann LeCun stated that Vietnam will play a crucial role in the global AI ecosystem. This is because Vietnam has established a roadmap for the development of its semiconductor industry, enabling it to become an important part of the global supply chain. Meta's open-source large-scale programming language , Llama (Meta AI), is currently widely used by businesses in Vietnam and around the world . Combining the development of the semiconductor industry with data centers, software, and AI applications will create tremendous changes for Vietnam in the future.

In particular, Professor LeCun also shared that the future development trend of AI will be based on leveraging data centers located in every country, combined with open-source solutions. This will help form AI models that understand the cultural and ethnic values ​​of every nation, something no single company has the capacity to develop independently. Meta is anticipating this trend and focusing on researching next-generation AI, emphasizing the importance of open-source AI.

Sharing Vietnam's vision for AI development, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung stated that Vietnam is developing AI in the direction of becoming a virtual assistant for humans. Each organization and company will create its own private AI, and each Vietnamese person will also have their own private AI, which they will train themselves using their personal data and knowledge.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Information and Communications expressed his hope that Meta would continue to cooperate extensively with Vietnamese businesses in the future to develop AI in line with the direction they had just shared. The Minister also requested that Meta accelerate the application of AI to clean up "junk" content on Facebook, especially on the Marketplace online marketplace.
