According to the Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Works (the investor), the project commenced in January 2024 and is now basically complete. The road leading to the airport has a total length of 3.63 km, a roadbed width of 36 m, a road surface width of 13.5 m, a median strip width of 12.5 m, and sidewalks of 5 m on each side. This road also includes the simultaneous construction of sidewalks, drainage systems, landscaping, lighting, and fire water supply, with a total investment of approximately VND 117.9 billion, funded from the provincial budget, and implemented over 4 years, from 2023 to 2026.

The road to Phan Thiet airport connects to Vo Nguyen Giap coastal road.

Binh Thuan is a strategically important locality with significant national security and defense potential, as well as tourism development potential. Investing in the construction of an airport will significantly contribute to attracting numerous projects, addressing the travel needs of the people, and promoting the overall socio-economic development, security, and defense of the locality and surrounding areas. Investing in transportation infrastructure and access roads to the airport is urgent and a crucial step in creating momentum for the Phan Thiet airport project once it is completed and operational.

With improved transportation infrastructure, Binh Thuan will become a key province in the region for tourism and services.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hien, Deputy Head of the Provincial Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transportation Works, stated: During the construction process, despite difficulties in compensation and land clearance, the Project Management Board coordinated with local authorities and relevant departments to resolve issues promptly. The investment in the Phan Thiet Airport access road project will connect Phan Thiet Airport with the regional transportation system, maximizing the utilization of civil aviation functions and national defense and security. Simultaneously, it will create urban land along both sides of the road, gradually improving transportation infrastructure, urban beautification, and contributing to the socio -economic development of Binh Thuan province.

Expressing his delight at the project's completion and the improved accessibility for local residents, Mr. Do Ngoc Hoa, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thien Nghiep Commune, added: "Thanks to the explanations and persuasion from the local government and relevant agencies, the residents whose land was subject to clearance and compensation all agreed, contributing to the accelerated completion of the project. With improved transportation, Thien Nghiep Commune in particular and Phan Thiet City in general will benefit, especially by promoting the development of the service and tourism industries in this suburban area."

Recently, the news that the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province and Vietnam Airlines Corporation held a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement for the period 2025-2030 is truly good news and full of hope for Binh Thuan. Because when Vietnam Airlines opens routes to Binh Thuan, it will not only help expand the air connectivity network but also support the promotion of Binh Thuan's image to friends both domestically and internationally. Therefore, the operation of Phan Thiet airport will create a boost, helping the province connect more quickly with major economic centers both domestically and internationally.

Investing in the Phan Thiet Airport access road project will connect Phan Thiet Airport with the regional transportation system.

Construction of Phan Thiet Airport began in January 2015. To date, the military components, being built by the Air Defense - Air Force Command, have commenced military flights since early August 2024. The civilian component, however, has been upgraded from a 4C to a 4E airport classification, with a 3,050m runway and a passenger terminal designed to handle 2 million passengers per year. Currently, Binh Thuan province is in the process of selecting a replacement investor to restart the civilian airport project as soon as possible, in accordance with regulations.

The Phan Thiet Airport access road project, along with other ongoing and nearing completion infrastructure projects, promises to create a seamless transportation network that will propel Binh Thuan forward. With improved transportation connectivity, Binh Thuan will become a key province in the region for tourism and services, contributing to double-digit economic growth in the near future.
