On December 6, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health announced that the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center received a stroke case that was admitted late, beyond the golden treatment time on December 5. Thanks to the rotating team of doctors, the patient's condition improved after a few hours of hospitalization.
Specifically, upon admission, the patient was examined by Dr. Chu Duc Manh - cerebrovascular disease specialist at People's Hospital 115 in Con Dao, had his nerves assessed and had an emergency CT scan according to specialized procedures.
CT images were immediately transmitted to People's Hospital 115, for online consultation with Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Huy Thang and Master, Dr. Pham Nguyen Binh.
The experts unanimously diagnosed the patient with posterior circulation infarction at the 12th hour. The team decided to perform intravenous thrombolysis right in Con Dao.

After 3 hours of drug infusion, the patient spoke more clearly, could walk on his own, and the NIHSS stroke score improved significantly.
This is the second case in Con Dao that was saved by thrombolysis thanks to the coordination between rotating doctors and a remote consultation system with leading stroke experts.
The program of rotating specialist doctors to Con Dao recently recorded many positive results.
The team of doctors has successfully handled many serious cases that previously required transfer to the mainland; reduced risks in emergency transportation by sea and air; improved the professional capacity of the on-site medical team; and strengthened people's trust in the city's health system.
In particular, in-depth intervention decisions based on scientific evidence, promptly supported by a network of experts from Ho Chi Minh City, contribute to narrowing the healthcare gap between remote islands and the inner city, towards the goal of all Con Dao residents having access to quality, equal and timely healthcare services.
