Ca Mau aims to become the largest shrimp center in the country

On May 25, news from the People's Committee of Ca Mau province said that it had just issued a decision approving the plan to develop the shrimp industry in Ca Mau province for the period 2021 to 2030 and orientation to 2050.

Accordingly, Ca Mau aims to develop the shrimp industry into the largest center in the Mekong Delta and the whole country with a suitable production organization model, applying advanced technology to improve productivity, output, quality and competitiveness of Ca Mau shrimp products. At the same time, increase the ability to adapt to climate change, protect the ecological environment; bring benefits to people, businesses; the economy of the province and the country.

Also according to the shrimp industry development target of Ca Mau province, the locality strives to have a total brackish water shrimp farming area of 280,000 hectares by 2025; of which 5,000 hectares will be super-intensive farming. Production of quality shrimp seeds will meet over 70% of the province's farming needs; total shrimp output will reach 280,000 tons; and export value will reach 1.4 billion USD.

By 2030, the total area of stable brackish water shrimp farming will reach 280,000 hectares; total shrimp output will reach 350,000 tons; export turnover will reach 1.65 billion USD. The total capital for investment in shrimp industry development by 2030 is expected to be about 20,000 billion VND.

By 2050, Ca Mau province's shrimp industry will develop sustainably, with high productivity and quality, and have a prestigious brand in the domestic and foreign markets. In particular, production will be strictly controlled at all stages; 100% of farmed shrimp products will have traceable origins; becoming a shrimp processing center in the world and in the country with an export turnover of over 6 billion USD/year.

Ca Mau province also proposed plans and priority investment project groups to achieve the above goals, including: infrastructure investment projects; shrimp industry development projects and programs, plans and projects to improve management capacity...
