On the afternoon of June 6th, speaking with a reporter from Tien Phong newspaper , Mr. Le Van Tu (57 years old, one of the first fishermen to spot the whale) said that yesterday afternoon (June 5th), at around 5:30 PM, while he was out at sea in the Hon Seo area (Nhon Ly commune, Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province), he saw a large whale surfacing.

According to Mr. Tu, it was a whale (also known as a whale or whale shark). "I saw the whale surface 5-7 times," Mr. Tu said. The video also shows a flock of seabirds flying overhead.
Previously, in the De Gi - Vung Boi sea area (Phu Cat district, Binh Dinh province), during the years 2022 and 2023, local people also discovered and recorded scenes of Balaenoptera edeni whales (commonly known as Bryde's whales) swimming and hunting.
It is known that currently, the sea off Nhon Ly is experiencing southerly winds, so there are many small fish species such as scad, mackerel, small snapper, and grouper.
According to experts, the appearance of whales near the shore in Binh Dinh is very welcome, a positive sign indicating that the nearshore marine environment of Binh Dinh is improving and has more food. If properly managed and protected, the whales returning to Binh Dinh regularly every year will contribute to attracting a large number of tourists .
