TPO - Fishermen on a boat at sea in Nhon Ly commune (Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh) encountered and recorded the image of a large whale surfacing to hunt for prey.

Large whales appear, surfacing to hunt in the waters of Binh Dinh.

On the afternoon of June 6, speaking with Tien Phong reporter , Mr. Le Van Tu (57 years old, one of the first fishermen to discover the whale) said that yesterday afternoon (June 5), at around 5:30 p.m., while he was on a boat at sea in the Hon Seo sea area (Nhon Ly commune, Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh), he saw a large fish rising to the surface of the water.

According to Mr. Tu, it was a whale. “I saw the fish surface 5-7 times,” Mr. Tu said. Also in the recorded clip, above, a flock of seabirds were flying around.

Previously, in the De Gi - Vung Boi sea area (Phu Cat district, Binh Dinh), in 2022 and 2023, people also discovered and recorded the scene of Balaenoptera edeni whales (commonly known as Bryde's whales) swimming and hunting.

It is known that currently, in Nhon Ly sea, it is the South wind season, so there are many small fish species such as alum fish, mackerel, small ear fish, cobia...

According to experts, the appearance of whales near the shore in Binh Dinh is a very welcome thing, a positive signal showing that the near-shore marine environment of Binh Dinh is improving, with plenty of food. If well managed and protected, whales returning regularly every year to Binh Dinh will contribute to attracting a large number of tourists .
