That was the direction of the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang at the conference to review press work in 2023 and deploy tasks for 2024 chaired by the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, in coordination with the Department of Information and Communications and the Provincial Journalists Association organized this morning, January 18. Journalists need to engage and immerse themselves in real life.

Speaking at the conference, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang emphasized: 2024 is an important year, a year of acceleration to complete the goals of the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress and the 5-year plan 2021-2025. This is also the year to prepare and build a plan to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day June 21 (1925 - 2025). Therefore, in the coming time, it is recommended that the press management agencies of the province strengthen management of press activities according to the direction of the central government and the province; pay attention to training and fostering to improve the level of political theory and professionalism of journalists. At the same time, regularly exchange, support and empower press agencies and journalists to become more and more mature, promote their important roles and functions, lead and orient public opinion, create social consensus, thereby building a professional, humane and modern press and media associated with the digital transformation of the press to contribute to the successful implementation of important political tasks of the province. In addition, each journalist needs to equip themselves with extensive knowledge, accept to commit, and immerse themselves in real life to create quality works with profound social significance.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council also suggested a number of tasks that need to be prepared in 2024 to best organize activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day in 2025. He hoped that press agencies would continue to join hands and work with the province to promote comprehensive and effective propaganda in all areas of social life so that provincial leaders could promptly grasp and direct the handling to meet the requirements and aspirations of the people. At the same time, spread to all people the message of self-reliance, overcoming difficulties to develop the socio-economy, and building a prosperous and happy life.

Local press becomes the source of information

The report at the conference stated: In 2023, local press agencies and resident reporters in the province made great efforts in performing their tasks. Press direction and management were strengthened, with innovations bringing about efficiency and practical results.

Press agencies have focused on improving the quality of content and innovating the presentation on new, modern interfaces. The quality of information in the press has been increasingly improved, reflecting comprehensively, honestly, and multi-dimensionally, meeting the diverse needs of the people.

Local press, especially online newspapers, have gradually become the official information channel leading to the websites and social networks of agencies, units and organizations in the province. In particular, local press agencies have maintained and effectively promoted the column to protect the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints in the new situation.

Proactively and actively fight against and refute the views, distorted arguments, and " peaceful evolution" plots on cyberspace of hostile forces. The resident office, resident agency, and the team of central, provincial, and municipal reporters stationed in the area have closely followed the grassroots, been quick to grasp information, and reflected political events, major holidays, and socio-economic, national defense and security, and Party building activities, promptly reflecting issues of public concern in the area.

Speaking and providing information to the press in some units is not good.

In addition to the achieved results, press work in 2023 still has some limitations such as: propaganda work on the Party's policies and guidelines is present, but the content is still lacking in depth; the number of articles with critical, predictive, constructive comments, anti-corruption, negativity, reflecting "hot" issues in society has increased compared to before but is still not much; facilities serving the activities of local press agencies are still limited; some agencies, units, and localities have not fulfilled their responsibilities of speaking out and providing information to the press...

The conference spent most of the time for delegates to exchange and share experiences to improve the effectiveness of information and propaganda work; solutions to build multimedia and multi-platform journalism following modern journalism trends; the need to strengthen coordination between press agencies and localities, departments, branches and sectors to contribute to orienting public opinion on sensitive issues arising in the area, thereby conveying timely, complete and accurate information on the socio-economic development tasks of the locality. At the same time, analyze and identify current trends and challenges in journalism activities to determine key tasks and solutions in 2024.
