Ms. Phan Huyen Trang (living in Hanoi) using Viettel network last night was surprised to see the network changed its name to "Proud of Vietnam", this is one of the activities of major networks to respond to the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2.
Ms. Trang said: "In the atmosphere of National Day September 2, holding my phone in my hand and seeing the words 'Proud of Vietnam' brings happiness and more love for the Fatherland."
Information from Viettel network said that the name change was carried out simultaneously for tens of millions of subscribers on the night of August 31 and will end on September 2. In addition, the subscribers' ringback tones will also be changed to the theme of the great celebration.
Also carrying out similar activities, the network operator Vinaphone changed its name to “Proud of Vietnam” on the night of August 31; while the network operator Mobifone said that the network name change in response to the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2 is expected to take place early this afternoon (September 1).
According to the record, in case the user does not see the phone device automatically change the network name, they can restart the device, or switch to "flight mode" and then turn it off, the words "Proud of Vietnam" will appear instead of the familiar network name.
This is not the first time that network operators have changed their names. In 2020, major network operators such as Viettel, Vinaphone and Mobifone also changed their display names to messages such as "Stay home!" or "#stayhome" to encourage people to follow social distancing requirements during the complicated COVID-19 pandemic.
