Anyone with a green checkmark next to their name or profile picture is an active or recently active user on Messenger or Facebook. Community chats with unread messages will also appear among your active contacts at the top of your chat list.
When you turn on your active status, you'll show that you're active, recently active, and present in the same chat with friends and contacts on this profile. If you don't like seeing that person in Messenger, you can follow the steps below to hide contacts on Messenger; the steps are very simple. Let's find out!
Step 1: First, access the Messenger app on your phone, then select "Contacts," find the profile picture of the person you want to hide, then press and hold on their profile picture and select "Hide contact."
Step 2: On the screen that appears next, tap "Hide contact." Wait a moment, and the system will notify you that the contact has been successfully hidden. From now on, the contact you just hid will no longer appear in your list of active contacts in Messenger. Importantly, that person will not know you have hidden them, and you can still contact them to message or call.
Hiding a contact in this suggestion feature is not the same as blocking them; the account is simply removed from Messenger's suggestions. The hidden contact will not receive a notification, and people can still search for and chat with them.
With just a few simple steps we can hide contacts on messenger, please refer and do it.
