A close-up view of the mysterious road stretching across the sea off Hon Kho Island.

Amidst the pristine beauty of Hon Kho beach in Nhon Hai commune (Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province), there is a road that stretches across the sea, appearing only at certain times, and remaining hidden underwater for the rest of the time.

The Hon Kho sea-crossing road is approximately 500 meters long, connecting two mountain ranges. Hon Kho is located in Hai Dong village, Nhon Hai commune, 16km from the center of Quy Nhon city. The best time to see the Hon Kho sea-crossing road is from March to September; however, the exact time should be asked of local residents, as the road's appearance is not fixed and depends on the tide.
Locals don't know when the road was built or what materials it's made of. Several theories have been put forward to explain this mysterious road. Some suggest it could be a rare geological phenomenon, where layers of sedimentary rock formed in a unique way, creating such a flat and wide surface. Another theory leans towards the possibility that it's an ancient coral reef, which has undergone fossilization and erosion over thousands of years, resulting in its unusual shape.

There is also a theory that these are traces of human hands, evidence of some distant civilization that once existed and flourished in this land.
According to Mr. Lam Truong Dinh, Director of the Binh Dinh Provincial Historical Archives Center, to date there is no historical record or document about the existence of a road crossing the sea off Hon Kho Island. There are only speculations about this structure. Sometimes it is mentioned as an ancient road leading to the island, other times as a secret defense structure of the past.
The mystery surrounding its origins, as well as its "appearance and disappearance," gives this road a special appeal to tourists and adventure enthusiasts.
The feeling of setting foot on a bizarre structure rising from the sea is a unique and unforgettable experience.

On days when the tide recedes, visitors can walk along the rocky wall, getting closer to Hon Kho Island, and admire the colorful coral reefs hidden beneath the clear water. The path is covered with a thick layer of moss, but strangely, it's not slippery at all when you walk on it; it feels soft and smooth like velvet.
Many photographers and adventure enthusiasts come here to capture the impressive moments of this mysterious city wall.
With its landscape featuring numerous small islands, rocky shoals, coral reefs, and underwater vegetation, Nhon Hai has emerged as an attractive seaside tourist destination in recent years. Besides the intriguing mystery of a hidden sea road, it is also known for its pristine, tranquil, and familiar charm as a fishing village.
