The Iraqi government on December 25 condemned a bomb-laden drone attack on an air base housing US-led coalition forces near Erbil airport in Iraq's semi-autonomous Northern Kurdistan region.
In a statement, spokesman for Iraqi Prime Minister Yahya Rasoul said the attack occurred near Erbil civilian airport, injuring several people and disrupting airport operations.
Rasoul called the attack an "act of terrorism" and said "such criminal acts are aimed at harming Iraq's interests."
Additionally, the statement said the attack by the Iraqi armed group was part of a series of retaliatory measures against US forces amid the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.
An armed group calling itself the "Islamic Resistance in Iraq" has claimed responsibility for the recent attack, adding that it launched a bomb-laden drone at the US military base Green Village near the al-Omar oil field in Syria.
