The handover of the newly built solid house into use not only brings joy to Mr. Nguyen Van Dung's family, but also demonstrates the pioneering spirit of Ben Tre youth in the "Summer Youth Volunteer" Campaign in 2025.

From a leaky roof to a dream of settling down

The new house has an area of 32m2 (8m long, 4m wide), and construction started on June 1, 2025. In less than a month, with the contribution of young people, the house was completed.

Ben Tre Provincial Youth Union handed over a charity house to Mr. Nguyen Van Dung's family.

The total cost of building the house was 70 million VND, from the joint efforts of many resources. Of which, the Provincial Youth Union - Vietnam Youth Union of Ben Tre province mobilized businesses to support 60 million VND, the rest was supported by benefactors.

More preciously, the house was also contributed by the hard work and efforts of the "Youth Volunteers Supporting Labor Day to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses" Team in Tan Thanh Binh Commune, regardless of the weather. The members and young people wearing green volunteer shirts did not mind the difficulties and hardships, together rolling up their sleeves to do each step, such as transporting materials, mixing mortar, building walls, roofing... Each brick, each iron bar was soaked in the sweat of the young people, with the desire to bring a spacious house, a better life, thereby helping people to escape poverty.

Previously, Mr. Dung's family lived cramped in an old, dilapidated, leaky house. Every time there was heavy rain or strong wind, the whole family was in fear. Meanwhile, he and his wife worked as freelancers to make a living, so they did not have the financial capacity to build a new house.

For Mr. Dung, owning a solid house, without worrying about rain or storms, used to be a luxury dream. The dream of a solid home just passed by in vain, until the Ben Tre Provincial Youth Union connected with businesses and young people to help and it became a reality.
