The newly built, sturdy house, now handed over for use, not only brings joy to Mr. Nguyen Van Dung's family but also demonstrates the proactive spirit of Ben Tre's youth in the "Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign" 2025.

From a dilapidated roof to the dream of having a stable home and livelihood.

The new house, measuring 32 square meters (8 meters long and 4 meters wide), began construction on June 1, 2025. In less than a month, with the help of young people, the house was completed.

The Ben Tre Provincial Youth Union handed over a charitable house to the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Dung.

The total cost of building the house was 70 million VND, funded by contributions from various sources. Of this, the Ben Tre Provincial Youth Union – Vietnam Youth Union of Ben Tre Province mobilized businesses to contribute 60 million VND, with the remainder provided by benefactors.

Even more commendable, the house was built with the tireless efforts and dedication of the "Youth Volunteer Team for Assisting in Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses" in Tan Thanh Binh commune. These young volunteers, clad in their green uniforms, overcame difficulties and hardships, working together on every step of the process, from transporting materials and mixing mortar to building walls and roofing. Every brick and every iron bar is soaked with the sweat of these young people, driven by the desire to provide a decent home and a better life, thereby helping the people escape poverty.

Previously, Mr. Dung's family lived in cramped, dilapidated, and leaky old houses. Every time there was heavy rain or strong winds, the whole family lived in constant fear, while Mr. and Mrs. Dung worked as freelance laborers to make ends meet, so they lacked the financial means to build a new house.

For Mr. Dung, owning a sturdy house, free from leaks and strong winds, was once a luxurious dream. The dream of a stable home drifted away hopelessly until the Ben Tre Provincial Youth Union connected him with businesses and young people, and his dream became a reality.

The spread of volunteer spirit

The inauguration and handover ceremony took place in a solemn yet warm and friendly atmosphere. Present at the ceremony were Mr. Phan Thanh Tre – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, President of the Vietnam Youth Union of Ben Tre province, along with leaders of the Provincial Youth Union's Movement Department, representatives of the Tan Thanh Binh commune government, and a large number of youth union members and young people who came to share in the joy.

Mr. Phan Thanh Tre believes that this is a practical and meaningful youth project, contributing to the effective implementation of social welfare work. Having new houses creates favorable conditions for disadvantaged families and poor households in the province to have the opportunity to settle down, stabilize their lives, escape poverty, and participate in the socio -economic development of the locality.

My wife and I will work hard to improve our lives and escape poverty, and not disappoint everyone's expectations," Mr. Dung said, his voice choked with emotion.
