SSIT Port welcomes world's largest ship to the West Coast of the US

On September 15, a representative of Saigon Port International Container Services Joint Venture Company - SSA (SSIT port) said that the port has just successfully welcomed the MSC RIFAYA ship, part of the direct service route to the West Coast of the United States of MSC shipping line in Vietnam - Swan Sentosa route.

MSC RIFAYA is a direct service to the West Coast of the United States of MSC shipping line, loading at SSIT.

MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) is the world's largest container shipping line and one of the leading global enterprises in the field of transportation and logistics, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

MSC RIFAYA is one of the largest ships in the world to dock at SSIT port to directly import and export goods from Vietnam to the US, with a capacity of 19,462 Teu (1 Teu is equivalent to 1 20-foot container) and a length of 400m. This is also the largest ship ever to dock at SSIT port.

According to the General Statistics Office, the US is Vietnam's largest export market with an estimated turnover of 77.9 billion USD.

The ship has a capacity of 19,462 Teu.

Mr. Phan Hoang Vu, Deputy General Director of SSIT Port, said that SSIT Port highly appreciates the trust of MSC shipping line in bringing large-sized container ships to handle cargo at the port, promoting increasingly prosperous trade relations between Vietnam and the United States.

With requests from major shipping lines in the world, SSIT port is trying to work with relevant ministries and branches to be able to receive larger tonnage ships to reduce the load in order to effectively utilize the maritime channel system that has been invested in dredging to a depth of -15.5m from buoy 0 to Go Da junction, with a turning area of ​​up to 700m wide.

Currently, SSIT is welcoming 1 direct service to Europe, 1 to the US and 5 intra-Asia services every week.

SSIT Port always strives to further improve service quality, is one of the largest deep-water ports in the country, contributing significantly to the development of the seaport system in Cai Mep area and Vietnam.
