Previously, the Department of Health received a document from the Drug Administration of Vietnam notifying about the appearance of Zinnat tablets 500mg suspected of being of unknown origin. Specifically, the label stated: Zinnat tablets 500mg; the outer packaging label of the drug did not comply with regulations on drug labeling, drug ingredients, and drug instruction leaflets.
Specifically, the mandatory information on drug labels is not written in Vietnamese; there is no importer information; and there is no marketing authorization number or import license number.
These drug samples were discovered in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City (pharmacies around Cho Ray Hospital), Can Tho City, Lang Son province, and Tien Giang province.
To ensure treatment effectiveness and user safety, the Hanoi Department of Health requires all medical facilities and drug wholesalers and retailers in the area to refrain from trading, distributing, or using drugs of unknown origin; to review their operations, and if they find Zinnat tablets 500mg with the aforementioned information, to promptly notify the Department of Health (Department Inspectorate) for appropriate action.
District/county/town health departments are notifying healthcare facilities under their management not to trade, distribute, or use drugs of unknown origin; receiving information from facilities, coordinating with relevant departments to inspect drug businesses in the area. Simultaneously, they are verifying information and tracing the origin of the aforementioned Zinnat tablets 500mg, and handling violations according to their authority.
The Hanoi Department of Health also requested the Hanoi Center for Testing Drugs, Cosmetics, and Food to review the aforementioned drugs during the sampling process; to increase the sampling and quality control of drugs at risk of being counterfeited, substandard, or of unknown origin, and to report to the Department of Health for appropriate action.
The Department of Health, in coordination with media agencies, informs businesses, users of medicines, and the public to avoid trading and using medicines of unknown origin. The public is advised to report any counterfeit, smuggled, or illegally sourced medicines to the Department's hotline immediately upon discovery.
