On August 16th, in Tam Long ward, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health held a ceremony to launch two 115 satellite emergency medical stations located at Ba Ria General Hospital and Vung Tau General Hospital. These are the 47th and 48th satellite stations of the 115 pre-hospital emergency medical system in Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Duy Long, Director of the 115 Emergency Center of Ho Chi Minh City, said that before July 1st, the Ba Ria - Vung Tau area did not have a 115 Emergency Center. Out-of-hospital emergency services were mainly handled by individual local health units, lacking coordinated efforts, leading to disparities in speed and quality of response. People needing assistance often had to contact the nearest hospital or health center directly.

Leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health launched two 115 Emergency Medical Services at Ba Ria General Hospital and Vung Tau General Hospital.

From July 1st, all calls to the 115 emergency number will be routed to the Ho Chi Minh City 115 Emergency Center. Information is then received, advised on, and centrally coordinated, leading to more unified and synchronized management.

According to statistics, in just one month after the merger, the number of calls to the 115 emergency service in Ho Chi Minh City increased from an average of 1,000 to 1,500, with some days exceeding 1,600 calls. Of these, the demand for ambulance services from the former Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces accounted for a large proportion. To meet this demand, Ho Chi Minh City expanded its network of satellite stations and coordinated with qualified medical units to dispatch ambulance services to hospitals outside the designated area.

On July 10th and 11th, the 115 Emergency Center, together with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, surveyed and assessed the facilities and personnel at Ba Ria General Hospital and Vung Tau General Hospital. The results showed that both units are capable of carrying out pre-hospital emergency services.

Leaders of the 115 Emergency Center of Ho Chi Minh City and leaders of Ba Ria General Hospital together welcomed the launch of the 115 Emergency Station.

From July 1st to August 10th, in the former Ba Ria - Vung Tau area alone, approximately 200 ambulance trips were made, mainly from these two hospitals.

Dr. Tran Ngoc Trieu, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, emphasized that the synchronized deployment of pre-hospital emergency medical services in neighboring localities is an important step in implementing the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee's Project 912 on developing a professional emergency medical system by 2030.

The establishment of the 115 Satellite Emergency Medical Station at Ba Ria General Hospital and Vung Tau General Hospital enables the two hospitals to not only provide emergency care within their in-hospital emergency departments but also participate in managing out-of-hospital emergency services for the entire region.

Leaders of the 115 Emergency Center of Ho Chi Minh City and leaders of Vung Tau General Hospital signed an agreement to launch the Emergency Station.

The Department of Health requires hospitals to prepare sufficient personnel, facilities, and equipment; and to send staff to training courses to improve their professional skills. At the same time, it is necessary to standardize emergency care knowledge not only for the Emergency Department but also for other clinical departments, ready to respond to any emergency situation.
