Footballer Nguyen Xuan Son discharged from hospital, celebrates Tet in Nam Dinh

On the afternoon of January 23, General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Nguyen Van Phu visited and encouraged player Nguyen Xuan Son before the striker was discharged from the hospital to return home to celebrate Lunar New Year on January 24 (December 25).

On behalf of VFF leaders, Mr. Phu sent New Year greetings to Xuan Son and encouraged the player to maintain his recovery training when he returns home to celebrate Tet with his family.

General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu affirmed that VFF and Vinmec International General Hospital will closely coordinate with the coaching staff, doctors at the team and club to create the best conditions for Xuan Son during the recovery process.

Regarding Xuan Son's treatment, doctors at Vinmec Hospital said he is currently recovering well and positively.

The medical team will design a home training plan and closely monitor the recovery process to ensure the striker's ability to return to training and competition. Xuan Son will be discharged from the hospital and continue his recovery at home from January 24.

After being discharged from the hospital, Xuan Son and his wife and children returned to Nam Dinh to celebrate Tet. This is the 6th year he and his wife have celebrated Vietnamese Tet.

Previously, Nguyen Xuan Son, the top scorer and best player of the ASEAN Cup 2024, suffered a serious injury in the second leg of the final against Thailand. The male player underwent surgery and treatment in Vietnam.

According to Professor Tran Trung Dung, Director of Orthopedic and Musculoskeletal Trauma Department of Vinmec Healthcare System, Xuan Son's injury was quite severe, with two very large broken pieces, one 7 cm and one 3 cm.

After undergoing surgery, Xuan Son entered the physical therapy and rehabilitation phase with optimal support from experts at Vinmec.

Doctors say that as long as the bone heals well and recovers properly, Xuan Son's ability to return to 100% of his form is completely possible.
